Rp.wh 1,103 #1 Posted September 11, 2022 I have been talking to a guy for acouple years now he has this pond rj he finally sent me pictures of it, it has a blue motor is this standard or is this a replacement or dealer swap does the motor hurt the value or lessen the value? 1 1
Wild Bill in VA 1,455 #2 Posted September 11, 2022 Yes, the engine looks like it was replaced with a newer K series Kohler engine. If the cast steering wheel is original and the sheet metal undamaged don't worry about the engine. Any more pictures and is the paint original? Of course, an original engine on that model would have a greater value but the RJ series from 1955 to 1957 still hold premium value even if a few things have been changed. WHX?? 50,767 #5 Posted September 11, 2022 Anyone care to take a stab at what this is? A possible score for @Rp.wh. Seller claims it to be an all original RJ-55. Claims he has original implements including a reel mower. Not a good pic but beat we have.

You can tell buy where the drain hole is in the frame in front of the engine. Kohler and Clinton’s had different hole locations. Clinton to the side and kohler in center.

953 nut 57,969 #9 Posted September 12, 2022 I would say 1955 or 1956. The bracket shown under the RJ attaches the SPR-42 snow blade or the LMR-24 reel mower. The LM-24 was used on the walking and riding tractors in 1955 and 1956
rmaynard 15,927 #10 Posted September 12, 2022 If it's for sale, I'd say buy it, and worry about what it is later. 2

wh500special 2,249 #12 Posted September 16, 2022 Dang. That’s in amazing condition for an original. I’d guess it’s a 1956. But it doesn’t really matter and nobody really knows for certain since the Pond boys played a little fast and loose with running changes. Snap it up if you can. If you decide you don’t want it I’m sure the seller won’t have any difficulty finding a new friend among this bunch of guys. I’ve dumped most of my Wheel Horses and for the most part don’t miss them…but I do sometimes regret letting go of my RJ’s. steve
