Hardly any mention in the local Sunday paper. People who forget history are doomed to repeat it....

“Where the Stars and Stripes, and the Eagle fly!” :flags-waveusa:  There’s a Lady in the Harbor who stands for what we believe…. There’s a bell that still echos the price that it cost to be free…

Aaron Tippin said it, Toby Keith said it, Bush said it, and so many before.  Bob, I did not notice the date until you mentioned it, but I’ve had a thought in my mind for the soldier family I’ve been mowing for.  Lance Corporal Mitch and his wife Sam gave me this veteran owned company’s coffee and I just opened it for a fresh cup and a sit down on RedSquare.

Remember the great loss on that day, and the loves lost for our freedom before and since.  Thank you soldiers and servicemen and women for your thankless work!

For young folks it’s something they have read about…but this one is fresh enough that many of us will never forget where we were or what we were doing when it happened. Like many of you I watched it unfold live on TV in utter shock.
I was thousands of miles away from home and had no way to get back to my wife and kids in Connecticut, which as you know is only a couple hours drive to NYC.
I’ll never forget what happened and what was lost on that life changing day.

In July of 2019, I combined a trip to pick up an 875 with a visit to the Flight 93 Memorial. In the visitors center you can pick up a phone and listen to the actual answering machine recordings of Flight 93 passengers calls to home for the last time. It actually made me cry. I will never forget.

One of my most emotional experiences .     If at all possible, every American should visit this site.

I was born and raised about 20 miles South of the crash site.

Sadly, I wonder if some ever read about 9/11  or even the battles  against Socialism, Communism and  Dictatorships.      I'm afraid American History is no longer a required subject or even permitted in our public schools.

Like @Sparky said, I know exactly where I was when it happened. Just came home from school to my mom sitting in front of the TV. That was something she never did, TV was not turned on until after dinner most of the time.

She asked me if I heard what happened, mind you this is before mobile phones were widespread, atleast among teenagers. So ofcourse I did not hear what had happened. The footage of the first crash was being broadcast and then we saw the second crash take place on pretty much live broadcast..

It's something so surreal that at first you get the idea your watching a movie. But then came the images of people leaping and the incredible dustclouds as the first tower collapsed which made it even more surreal. I'll never forget that.

The world felt like it got one shade darker and more threatening that day, very eery feeling.

Although i'm no American I think it's safe to say that everyone felt different after that day.

Greetings from the Netherlands, Mark

Since I do not have a flagpole this is the best I could do for today. Also lowered the flag to half staff at my firehouse this morning. It honestly brought tears to my eyes as I thought about all those innocent people that died on this day as the flag slowly came down. May God bless America 🇺🇸

For me it was a very sad day and a lucky one at the same time. I was in tower one the day before in an architects office and was scheduled to go back that morning. It was however a beautiful day and I decided instead to travel to one of our subcontractors shop in Pennsylvania to check on some work they were doing. I had full freedom of schedule and movement and did not inform anyone of my changes. Needless to say everyone was in a panic looking for me. Cell phones were not working . Everyone thought I was there. It took over six hours for me to get in touch with someone in our office that finally was able to tell my wife and everyone else I was ok. I spent most of my life in NYC and worked in those buildings hundreds of times. A very sad day that I think about every day. It changed all of our lives forever.

I too remember where I was and the feeling of dismay that such an attack could happen. I will spare you the details of the long day that followed at work but it is etched in my memory.

The magnitude of this single coordinated attack on the United States of America makes it stand out but if we are not paying attention to the quantitative impact of the crime and injustice that is so pervasive throughout our cities we are experiencing another 9-11 attack  every month, it is just spread out over the entire country.

You need look no further than Venezuela to see what happens when a thriving entrepreneurial economy is overtaken by socialism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Venezuela

We have an election coming up in a few weeks. I hope everyone will get to know the candidates and choose wisely. Local school board members are the key to our future as a free society, get to know their views on a variety of subjects. Local justice officials are also a key component of protecting our freedom. Get to know their stance on dealing with crime.

I better get off my :soapbox: now, thanks for indulging me. I won't tell you who to vote for but please vote for candidates that have strong core values, not just a good speech.

I was a company 1st Sergeant at the time it happened when we were Down at Fort Polk, Louisiana training for a Peacekeeping Mission for Kosovo. 1st we Hear of it was when one of the Kosovo civilian's we had working with us, His Car radio announce the Pentagon had been attacked

I turned to My soldiers that were around me and said, in case You don't know it, we're at War. For some reason, I knew it was an attack from the Middle East

I was to originally supposed to be flying to Washington, DC to a Medical appointment at Walter Reed as Fort Drum didn't have a Full service Hospital, just an ambulatory Clinic. Had changed My appointment because our Brigade would be in Louisiana, Training for Kosovo

As soon as we returned from Louisiana. I was transferred to another Infantry Battalion in the other Infantry Brigade as an S-3 NCOIC Operations Sergeant Became the 1st conventional Troops In Afghanistan, We drove across the Boarder from Uzbekistan right down to Bagram, which the British had already secured. Are Composite Unit return to the US In April   I retired In May 2002 from the Army less than 7 Months after 9/11 as soon as I was Given Order for the Sergeant Majors Academy I Put In My retirement Packet at the request of the Wife. Recalled In 2005 as a Civilian Military advisor stayed in that Job Until 2012 Came Back again as an Advisor in summer 2019 till October 2021 (Desk Job No travel).

What the Moron In chief did In July 2021 was the Most shameful thing I have ever witness in my life from this great country. I am ashamed for all the People we left behind, and I think That's what 9/11 will mean to me for years to come
