Bill D 1,920 #1 Posted September 7, 2022 This rake is at my Dad's house. Does anyone know what it would have been used for? Thanks.
ebinmaine 67,444 #2 Posted September 7, 2022 I have one too. Came from grampa's barn. We always called it a Hay rake. I'd like to know if it had a specific purpose.

953 nut 55,195 #4 Posted September 7, 2022 As I understand it the large spaces between the teeth of the older manual and horse drawn hay rakes was to gather the hay with all strands lined up for easier handling when loading onto a wagon or skidder (large sleigh).
Pullstart 62,838 #5 Posted September 7, 2022 If you don’t like those answers, hat rack, coat rack, sock drier, real good nose picker, back scratcher, and the list goes on

formariz 11,987 #10 Posted September 7, 2022 That is a rather nice one. Pretty large. Most only have one or two reinforcing loops. Although bows are for reinforcing it they do help in making a proper pile by condensing under them. Some had the tines protruding also on the other side only about two inches. Simple clever timeless design.
The Freightliner Guy 1,327 #11 Posted September 7, 2022 A cultivator I’d strap to the back bar of my atc110 and create dust and loosen dirt and to bug the crap out of my friend following behind me. and it’s a hotdog fork I’d set over the fire for as long until they melt off and annoy my dad from the melted hotdog in the fire pit. anyways cool find looks cool
