There is a hole in one of the tires, but we have replacements at the farm, so I'm going to stick with that diamond tread and replace that tire.  Squirreling away those extra parts does pay off!

I hope so too, Steve.  It's been way too long since I've been out there.

But - if you have different locations for the parts-in-waiting, it can become an adventure to decide which spot they are in when you are looking for them...!!

Wow, Kevin, that sounds like a personal problem that just might require PT....:angry-screaming:

I didn’t even notice the diamond tread til it was mentioned. I have one with diamond tread also. Never seen another one with them. I was debating about swapping them out.

Congrats Kate!

Clinton B1290 is my opinion if you have a choice just because it's different than the crowd.

The diamond treads make a mower deck look good. Not so much for any other attachment.

A solid seat may indicate it's actually a 59 but the cast numbers on the trans can verify that if it ends with a 9

I'm not sure yet.  It's a pretty good size hole, and if I can salvage it I'm gonna.

My friend Joe Papke also told me that it may be a 59!  I honestly forgot that they even existed.  I think the diamond tread looks pretty cool!  That is a good looking RJ!

Thanks!  Yes, I will check that out when I get it here in Indiana.  I am anxious to give it a good looking-over.  Joe Papke, a friend of mine from Northern Indiana, also mentioned it might be a 59.  I kind of hope it is!  Either way, I'm excited to be adding it to my Wheel Horse collection.

Kate, it is good to see you back in here.  That RJ is excellent to have in your collection.  I'm thinking if you look at the transmission casting date (while it may not be a true test of dating the horse)...it may be if the transmission is original.  The casting date would be by the shifter looking like something like this...  A14-9.  See what you have there.  The letter is the month, then the day of the month, then the year.  :occasion-xmas:

June 25, 1959.  Don't forget, they did not use I in there count (it looks like a 1.).

Thanks Kate! It’s not perfect but the angle of the picture makes it look decent. Now if I could get the thing to run when I want it to! I do have an all

original one that has the Clinton B1290 on it and it’s the smoothest running engine.

That’s good info Steve…I don’t know this dating method.
  Thanks!

I thought the f meant February

There are three J's (January, June, and July) and two A's (April and August) and two M's (March and May) so they'd have needed two letters to distinguish so instead they just counted the months with letters.

A=1=January, B=2=February, etc. F=6=June, ..., (Skip I), ..., M=12=December
