My 520 does have the swept axle and was made in '91. I'm assuming it has the gear reduction steering but I would have to do some homework to figure out if it does. Off to use google to figure out how to tell... not any weights, THOSE weights no need for Google when you got us! The steering shaft will go down to a reduction set to the fan gear. peter lena 8,634 #32 Posted September 10, 2022 @twodogs nice pick up on those , couple of recommendations , do a penetrating oil spray down on all painted surfaces , let it soak in on sun warm metal , stops rust , saves patina , helps recover paint , let it soak a day , wipe down till dry , do it again , notice darker paint ? oil sheen finish ? regularly use https://www.walmart.com/ip/Rislone-Hy-per-Lube-Zinc-ZDDP-Treatment-11-oz/52628126? to all my rotella 30 wt oil , you can also get this on line , couple of ounces , use a measuring cup , specks on bottle . my engines run easier / smoother , hot oil changes are really cleaning out the crud , use it at every oil change , verify what ever works , and enhance that , regularly add sta-bil to all my gas , drop your carb bowls , clean out , fresh gas filter , basic stuff , pete 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I was going to work on the paint to bring back a little depth, and to keep it from oxidizing more. I've had great luck with penetrating oils on the paint of my '74 Bronco, so I'm sure it will help with these as well. Thanks also for the tip on the Rislone. I wasn't sure if Rotella needed that addition, since I was assuming it had higher zinc than conventional motor oils. Good to know, however. I'm right there with you on gas stabilizer, and I only use non-ethanol on these rigs. I wish the previous owner had kept the original carbs, as I would have re-built them. Is it worth converting one of the 161s, complete with the wheels from the 520? I'm already liking the 16, and I'm looking forward to digging into the engines over the winter. I intend to keep one operable through the winter for plowing, while I tinker with the other. Once I've completed that task, I'll switch to the other one. Having that 520 valve seat go out on me, makes me want to keep both of the 161s so that I'll have a backup.
