For manuals

The top left under the horse head emblem is  Browse

Drop down window click manuals

on that page on the right is a list

click Kohler under engine manuals and you will find one

I could have just linked it for ya but it's better to teach a man to fish. Now you'll be able to find the other manuals you want to look for

Thanks! There is also a button on the points cover. Looks like it also acts to kill the spark.

Yes that is also a kill switch. The one on the hood is just for killing it from the seat.

It’s a runner! The points and plug were way out of adjustment. It sounds very healthy and that makes me feel much better about the purchase. Did I do good at $400? Next I want to clean the fuel system and carburetor.

Now to find some parts. Mainly the #1611 transmission pulley, and recoil.

Yes. Put your mind to rest. A runner at that price is an excellent value.

It’s because it was my great grandpas Reese’s and my grandpa on my moms side took it home after he died and it sat from 2008 to 2022 where I moved it under the patio at my grandparents house so yeah

Is it worth going through the glass fuel filter off the fuel tank? I see I can get a new one for $15. It’s very crusty in the shutoff passage.

Also need a 1611 transmission pulley asap! Thanks everyone.

That glass filter does separate water out and makes a good fuel shut off point. I keep them on and also add a typical small engine fuel filter

@Laplantebd, The glass filter's body does have a screen in it to keep large debris from entering the fuel line but it isn't a filter. I like the look and as long as it isn't leaking, I'll use it but I do have a regular filter as well and I use Stens True Blue transparent fuel line (FWIW, it resists up to 100% ethanol).

leaking...what a PITA but it is definitely a classic look. If it's on, relatively clean, and not leaking, leave it and filter down stream.

Thank you all for the replies. I’ll clean it up the best I can and reinstall. I do have a few spare filters to put one in line.

New belt and trans pulley installed and it moves! Pretty pumped about that. I do still need to clean the carb.

Tomorrow is fluids change day.

The RJ had leaf mulching duty yesterday and did very well. Ready to go into hibernation now. Over the winter I will rebuild the carb and repaint the seat and wheels factory white. Also have some proper tires for the front.

Edit: I almost forgot I found a NOS Fairbanks Morse recoil for it. No more wrapping a rope around the cup to start it.
