ri702bill 8,325 #2 Posted September 2, 2022 Been a fan since the 1960's, and yes, the sport has changed - not sure if it is for the better, It's been said that the most expensive part on a Cup car is the paint job (now a wrap over white paint), referring to the sponsorship. Sponsors now have a choke hold on the car owners & teams. They don't even build their own chassis's now - all store bought and all alike. I miss the colorful antics of guys like Smokie Yunick - always one to find a loophole in the rulebook and use it, trying not to get caught. It is not a demo derby where you can play off the deadwood - but seems there are a lot more Green, White, Checker finishes that in recent years. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

squonk 41,120 #5 Posted September 2, 2022 Take away the points. Get rid of the chase. Whoever wins the most races wins the Championship. Give guys $$$$ for leading laps. clueless 3,000 #7 Posted September 2, 2022 (edited) When a 5" piece of thick packing tape illegally placed on the bottom front corner of each side of two car results in both car running up front all race and both finish 1st and 2nd, it's not stock car racing anymore it's more like F1 but with a lot more wrecks.
