peter lena 8,637 #9 Posted September 2, 2022 @TJ Salyers nice pick up , opportunity , to give that an aerosol penetrating oil soak down , let it sit a day , wipe down till dry , do it again . you have just saved patina ! easy to maintain . when you replace that fuel pump , you could also add a vertical fuel check valve , from fuel pump to carb , after you drop the carb bowl for cleaning , https://www.amazon.com/Wolfride-Return-Check-Petrol- have these on my 3 kohler magnums , always holding a fuel charge right there , also used clear fuel rated hose , dark green squeeze clamps , exact size . lots of hours and instant starts , why not ,? seat / type is easy on line , or local farm store . personally add rislone zinc additive to my rotella 30 oil changes , engines sound and run , very strong , do a very thorough baseline , drain / and electrical check over , use super lube oil on those choke / throttle cables , just some ideas , on what I do regularly to my stuff , good luck . pete evel energy fuel check valves , on line 5/16 1
peter lena 8,637 #10 Posted September 2, 2022 @Snoopy11 , tell it like I see it , opportunity is regularly staring at me on another's problem , not only fix / repair it , but while you are there step it up a notch ? the commonality build of these horses , lets you quickly say what you did on a similar problem . just got thru cutting with my c-85 , magnum , my franken horse test bed , that horse works / runs so effortlessly its ridiculous , very smooth , at every function . just a lot of tweaking time , keep experimenting , pete 1

Sailman 1,291 #12 Posted September 2, 2022 Congrats on the find. I have both a C-160 Auto and 416 - 8. My favorite tractors. They will do anything you want them to. Enjoy!
Sparky-(Admin) 21,339 #13 Posted September 2, 2022 Nice! Much better purchase than a second 520 in my opinion. A mid 70’s C series with a Kohler single is the perfect machine to learn some mechanical & restoration skills…and in the end you will have a desirable tractor

peter lena 8,637 #16 Posted September 3, 2022 @Sparky agree with you on the mid 70,s C series , personally think its the opportunity , to cross breed the old school ruggedness with some upgrades , that you probably won't even see . basically detailing / improving function , and retaining the look . bought a 3/14 a few years ago , for parts , guy I got it from was blown away at the combinations , that I set up on my horses , could not believe that attachments could operate that easily . take advantage of strength , design , tweak it , it just works , so much better . just the way I see things , oil slick , pete
