A 1045 for a BBT !

WHX??

Found some what of a pic ...laying on the seat spring 702 build. There's a pin that locks the two pieces together. The pin also goes into the other spring hole to prevent pivoting.

Just remembered I have a set earmarked for the 701 build.

BTW @Achto last set i have things get a little slow at work...

Excellent and clever, sir! Thank you for sharing this.

Time to rummage in the scrap pile for some plate!

No problem Don... plus if your a long legged chap you can even go a tad higher. Just a longer pin and carriage bolt.

Problem is many times that plate on the bottom of the seat is rotted away or been repaired multiple times. Getting hard to find a correct round or square that is decent shape.

I'm looking to raise it about 1” or a tad more. I may use your plates idea and sandwich some sort of spacer between. Having that pin catch the other hole in the seat was inspired.

Other thought too is to fashion the plates in a cross pattern to support the pan side to side. 1 inch is quite abit may get side to side rock.

I'll second that.

I have a really good strong seat spring here to use and I went with a cast iron farm tractor seat instead of a garden tractor steel seat because they are so much thicker and better supported.

Some sort of additional cross ties or side plates to add meat under a sheet metal seat would be a great idea.

After reviewing all this 1045 nonsense you do realize EB your only a year or two away from a nice round hood.

EB, Trina, and I had this exact conversation about round hoods vs. the first square hoods. The subject is closed. :)

@WHX??

Yeah Jim buddy, she was funny....

I thought maybe she'd really like an 854.

Tripped over a couple that were for sale.

Show them to her and she was like .... meh....

I showed the ad of this 1045 that Don had sent me in the first place and she was... Oh, that's cute. 🙂

Dunno....

She's just got a "thing"  for those mid-60s square hood short frames.

Actually. No. She prefers the more vintage stuff. I'm a 1970 model. Late enough in the year that I could be a 71....

The very distinct design ethics for the 61-64 vs. the 65-early 70’s definitely appeal to different tastes.

IMO, the round hood could not be sustained as elegantly over the longer frame and wider hoods needed to carry the larger engines and belt-driven implements. The K181 was the largest engine for a round hood and it barely fit!

Well only two things can happen then...

1 Make a convert out of her

2 More rounders for us

It'll be option 2 my friend.

She's pretty set on having ONLY usable workers and no trailer pieces for her Herd.

That leaves out the nut roaster types.

I've tried to get her to toss around the idea of a round hood.....

Nope.

Checking the manual, it also illustrates 5 lug hubs.

Thanks for looking at that.

This'll be a worker for Trina.

VERY likely it'll end up with a 6 speed for Limited Slip Differential and also have the 80s HD hubs with 2 set screws.

Looking like we'll try to carefully remove the 3 lug hubs for resale.

I think most of us accept that your taste in design ethics varies noticeably from the original target market for WH tractors. And we are all the better for it! :)

Same for the '65-ish square hoods. The big block Kohlers would fit, but only with shallow oil pans.

Almost a shame that the 45-degree single engines developed so many years later. A 16hp round hood (1608:P?) would've been a beast!
