I’m quite certain BBT will have it up and in good shape in no time. Congratulations!

2 of these beasts in the same day? Totally jealous. When you head to New York if you have time feel free to stop by here.

One question right off.

How can we get this paint off the serial number tag without ruining the tag??

You can try using “Goop Off” but I find it works better on newer paint mistakes than aged ones. I have also carefully used lacquer thinner on a cloth. These hood decals were completely painted over long ago and I cleaned them with lacquer thinner.  I lightly moisten a cloth (not wet) and wipe in strokes, not scrub.

Try a bit of brake fluid on a rag - it will usually soften the paint so you can carefully rub it off.

@Handy Don was nice enough to send me some more pictures this morning following a little tinkering he did on the 1045.

I enjoy observing other folks that pay close attention to detail such as Don does. Lots of Red square folk like that.

Turns out the paint on the serial tag needed very little convincing to come off using his fingernail.

@gwest_ca

Here's one to either add to your list or maybe check to see if it's already there?

All four tires appear to be correct originals and although well aged they are holding air.

You folks zoom in on that last pic a little and you'll see THREE lug hubs.

Don and I want to know, when was the conversion from 3 to 5 lug hubs?

I was thinking it was a little earlier than this tractor was made, for sure.

Appears to be part number #3574.

I see those mostly on the 400 series tractors... as well as 1 that I saw on a 653, but for whatever reason... never on a 1045. (Not saying that it wasn't DONE... just saying I personally haven't seen it on a 1045 before). Obviously... that would be early 60's material.

I read somewhere that on the #3574... through 1962 the set screw was 90 degrees off the hub. From 1963 on the set screw is on the key. I dunno if that offers any clue... but it is something... :eusa-think:

My 1045 has original tires, on 5 lug rims1038723668_PXL_20220608_205502133_MP2.jpg.7f8cca53923a3993e3d710f53a8a388d.jpg

3 lugs were on my 64 604 and 704. My 65 1075 had 5 lug. 1045's were made with some spare leftover 64 parts so it stands to reason it could have 64 hubs or a 64 transmission.
