Is there a teardown manual for this? Or a good thread about it?

There are several threads that would be helpful because these transmissions are so similar.

To find them go to

Reference section

Transmissions

You'll see threads for 6 speed, 3-speed, and others like this one for a 4 speed.

The transmission service manual is great. Well written with lots of illustrations. However, @stevasaurus video is even better.

I believe the reference section of this forum is hidden in plain sight… there sure is a ton of good reads in there!

Agreed.

I'm terrible about remembering to look there before I ask silly questions that have been answered 7,000 times already.

@Heatingman  https://www.amazon.com/Bottle-Stainless-Bristle-PMD-Products/dp/B007S91ND4/ref=sr_1_11?   used this type of hole cleaner after a steering wheel pull , also available in brass , used never seize  to install  that mount pin , when I  started removing wheels , I  braced the side of the wheel , with a solid  wood , 4x4  to wall beam , eliminating wheel bounce , size to size flat round punch , 3lb hammer , the first hit made it move . since then my steering wheels ,are removed  without any  problems , pete

@Snoopy11  yup that wheel impact bounce , was my , have to change this moment ,   bolted 1 side of a 2 piece pipe clamp , on to the 4x4 , then clamped it around the steering wheel base , then put the end up against a corner wall beam , 3 lb hammer / punch , never looked back . never seize, pete

I'm guilty of that, would have saved you all a lot of questions. Have trouble finding old posts  with the search engine on this site. Forgot about that reference section. :confusion-scratchheadblue:

One little tidbit I've learned is to type in 2 or 3 words. Hit the magnifier to search, then tap the key that shows the words I used connected by "AND".

Then poke down through til I find what I want.
