C160 Automatic gains speed

Recommended Posts

Anyone have a fix for a great running C160 Automatic that picks up speed?

When driving in forward the tractor gains speed so I have to mow with one hand on the lever.  Any thoughts to correct?

Thanks!

Try adjusting the tension on the motion control.  Nut is 1-1/8" the squared end of the collar is 5/8"

Between the hood stand and the seat. Right between your legs when you're sitting on it.

I have a c160 automatic that gains and looses speed by itself. The motion control locking nut is tight, so that is not the problem. Could a slightly loose drive belt cause this to happen, or is it a transmission problem ? If it is a trans problem does anyone know what it is and how to repair it. If it is a loose drive that is causing this problem, how do you how much tension the drive belt should have ? Thanks in advance for any help.

This is an oid post, should start a new one.  The info on adjustments for motion control is  in sundstrand manual.

Here's a look at the parts.

I have checked for cracks and there are none. I have a very tight motion control setting. These are not my problem. I was wondering if a slightly loose belt would cause my tractor to pause when going slow at a slight hill until I increase the speed to slowly climb and when I reach the top it speeds up allot. Also when I am cutting on a flat grade the tractor will also speed up. Does anyone have any other ideas as to what might be the problem and fix ?
