Pullstart 62,840 #78 Posted March 6, 2023 I have no answer to my question, but generally great plug wires block interference from external sources, right? Would wrapping a winding around it alter the final power?

I called Design Technology, Inc. the makers of the Tiny Tach and talked to their electrical engineer. The Tiny Tach has a wire that wraps around a spark plug wire for inductive pick up of the spark plug pulse to trigger the tach. 1 2
Oldskool 6,644 #80 Posted March 9, 2023 So basically it works on the same idea as an automotive timing light? Ive seen those little tachs but just wasn't sure if they were worth the purchase.
Blasterdad 2,692 #81 Posted March 9, 2023 You can get hour meters with a plug wire pickup too...
Wild Bill 633 845 #82 Posted March 24, 2023 (edited) Since my last post, the crankshaft has been balanced, and engine assembly has started. Installed crankshaft, rods and pistons, roller camshaft degreed, roller lifters and cylinder heads. Next, determine the correct push rod length. I do not think It will be finished. I am waiting for the carburetor which is at an engine builder to replace the OEM emulsion tube with a jet and adjuster. Then the engine will be run to determine the idle speed so the CVT can be ordered. Some other things to be completed are brake master cylinder, jackshaft, v-belt tensioner, plumbing and electrical. Test run and debug. Then to sheet metal shop and then disassembly for paint. I have been working on this project for 20 months and the one thing this project has taught me is there is always light at the end of the tunnel and patience. Hopefully next year we will see all of you. Can't wait. Edited March 25, 2023 by Wild Bill 633
