The tachometer and oil pressure gauge have been mounted in the hood stand.

Looks very nice! What does the tach get the RPMs from?

I have been told I can get the tach pickup from the negative side of the ignition coil or wrap a wire around the spark plug wire.

I have no answer to my question, but generally great plug wires block interference from external sources, right?  Would wrapping a winding around it alter the final power?

I do not think so. I called Design Technology, Inc. the makers of the Tiny Tach and talked to their electrical engineer. The Tiny Tach has a wire that wraps around a spark plug wire for inductive pick up of the spark plug pulse to trigger the tach.

So basically it works on the same idea as an automotive timing light? Ive seen those little tachs but just wasn't sure if they were worth the purchase.

Since my last post, the crankshaft has been balanced, and engine assembly has started. Installed crankshaft, rods and pistons, roller camshaft degreed, roller lifters and cylinder heads. Next, determine the correct push rod length.

I do not think It will be finished. I am waiting for the carburetor which is at an engine builder to replace the OEM emulsion tube with a jet and adjuster. Then the engine will be run to determine the idle speed so the CVT can be ordered. Some other things to be completed are brake master cylinder, jackshaft, v-belt tensioner, plumbing and electrical. Test run and debug. Then to sheet metal shop and then disassembly for paint. I have been working on this project for 20 months and the one thing this project has taught me is there is always light at the end of the tunnel and patience. Hopefully next year we will see all of you. Can't wait.

Correct push rod length has been determined. After 10 months, it's time to finally assemble the engine.

1986 GMC K2500 HD 3/4 ton 4X4 350CI 4-Speed which I bought new. The last year of the carburetor and less than 200 HP. So replace the top end with roller-hydraulic camshaft, Brodix Track 1 cylinder heads, roller rockers, stud gridle, Edelbrock Air Gap intake and throttle body fuel injection. Started this project and I got distracted with my Wheel Horse Hot Rod project by @Achto. After the Hot Rod project is done I need to complete this project.
