Rob J. 1,942 #1 Posted August 25, 2022 Picked this up last night. Drove 200 miles to get it. It is thought that this tractor had been in the same family from new. Gentleman who owned it put a battery conversion on the back hitch for extra weight. All bolted on. Probably start clean up on it today. I could not find the ID sticker. So I hope it’s the real deal. 😜 4

953 nut 55,260 #4 Posted August 25, 2022 That is a fine looking 1045, do you plan to run it as an original paint survivor?

Rob J. 1,942 #8 Posted August 25, 2022 Word to the wise. If you check Facebook marketplace be sure to check the ads out good. Had I not clicked on this ad I’d a never known. 1045 was not in the title or description. One side pic revealed the 1045 decal. Luckily for me the guy selling it was doing for the owner who was away and knew nothing about Wheel Horses. I got lucky AF. 2

peter lena 8,631 #15 Posted August 25, 2022 @Pullstart looks like an aerosol lubricant opportunity is staring right at you, very simple , would suck right into that faded paint , stop rust , beading moisture , go grease , pete 2
rmaynard 15,483 #16 Posted August 25, 2022 Where did you pick it up? Is that snow on the tires?
peter lena 8,631 #17 Posted August 25, 2022 @Pullstart been doing that for years , a no brainer , aerosol penetrating oil spray / mist down , let it soak in a day , preferably in the hot sun , using clean cloth wipe it down till dry , how does it look ? darker paint ? do it again ., you have just saved patina ! have taken it from that stage , with a 6" electric palm buffer , and cleaner wax , pow ! paint break thru ! then a regular easy maintenance lubricant rub down , keeps it looking that way . warm steel will draw in lubricant , go grease , pete 1

ACman 7,618 #19 Posted August 25, 2022 I seen that on FB but at the moment didn’t have the funds to pick it up. That would have finished the trifecta as I already have a 1055 and 1075 . Glad to see it found a good home and shortly I’m hoping my collection will find some new owners too . I keep saying it , I just really need some help digging everything things out for sorting and pictures .

Rob J. 1,942 #22 Posted August 25, 2022 Some 1045 porn all cleaned up and starting the process to bring it back to original while keeping the original patina intact. 3
Rob J. 1,942 #23 Posted August 25, 2022 Any 1045 gurus here? Was the seat exclusively the metal tractor pan or did they use whatever on these? This looks close to the right era but I’m certainly no expert. Also where did the original solenoid get mounted? Thanks in advance.

I didn’t really have the funds but when I seen it I immediately asked the guy a couple of questions and I was satisfied it was the real deal, wasn’t 100% but felt good. Made arrangements to pick up next day. Deal went smooth. The guy selling it for the old guy was a real nice guy. Didn’t know a thing about Wheel Horses but that probably worked in my favor. Good luck on your hunt.
