Panther416-8 342 #1 Posted August 21, 2022 This is how my drive belt has been routing since I got the tractor about 14 years ago. Looking at some pics on the forum of other 400 series tractors they don't seem to have the small roller that appears in the top right of the photo under the two EEs in 8 SPEED. Panther416-8 342 #3 Posted August 21, 2022 Thanks wallfish. It looks as though it's factory but like I stated I haven't seen that set up on any other 400 series. Thompson1276 256 #5 Posted August 22, 2022 Yeah no that’s no factory from what I know of I could be wrong. Your parking brake is spring tension and when dropped is your belt tensioner when it’s engaged the pulley and belt is loose, so that is also set up wrong because the belt goes under the top left pulley that’s for your parking break. Yesbothtractorsdohavepulleysgiveortakeinthesameareaonthem. Maybe someone else can better explain the differences between the belt routing on hydros compared to the manual trans tractors. The belt routing on a hydro is not the same as a gearjammer. The belt on a gear driven transmission feeds power to the transmission when the belt slack is removed by pulling the belt from the transaxle pulley to the engine. He was not trying to offend you by pointing out the difference between a hydro and a gearjammer, He was trying to be sure @Panther416-8's question was correctly answered without extraneous misinformation confusing the issue. My tractor seems to run fine as is, it's just that a PO installed an additional idler roller which doesn't harm anything, correct? My clutch functions perfect when depressing by giving slack and stopping belt movement until I let the clutch out again. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
