That, as well as the unknown age of the coil itself, makes me err on the side of buying a 12v coil... What do you think... should I go for a new coil... or buy a smaller resistor for the 6 volt? But I would go for a 12V coil myself. Not my money though!

Snoopy11 5,714 #79 Posted August 27, 2022 I just ordered the coil from the jungle, should be here on Sunday... thanks for helping @Jeff-C175... stay tuned over here... I may need some help getting this ignition going! Don
Snoopy11 5,714 #80 Posted August 28, 2022 Ignition coil came today. Along with that, and a LOT of other things, I got the engine BACK apart again today, pressure washed the block, and got everything painted. Then... put all new gaskets in and reassemble. Just for context, yes, @Jeff-C175 that is your package in the past picture. Puts the real size in context... Don

Well... here is how I ir-rationalized it... At least now I won't get covered in rusty grease every time I touch the darn thing... The female lady women 'round this here funny farm were plotting my demise for all the grease I have gotten all over the house. Plus... eh... well... @ineedanother covered that portion of my condition... P.S @ineedanother my condition is on page 341... Don

Snoopy11 5,714 #87 Posted August 29, 2022 Basically, the K241-301 carburetor from IST does not fit the Tecumseh HH120. It. Just. Doesn't. Fit. I [("MAY")] be able to modify it to work in my case by die grinding the carb's stud holes inward on each side. BUT... the other problem that I see is that the intake opening on the Tecumseh is a tiny TINY bit smaller than the carburetor itself... so... if that has an effect on flow... I may need to slightly bore and polish the engines intake a bit to get everything flowing properly... I would love to make this carburetor work if I can... we shall see. For whatever reason... I feel dark clouds on the horizon... Don
pfrederi 17,741 #88 Posted August 29, 2022 My biggest Techy is 10hp but it has the smaller base carb. (Small block Kohler carbs K181) will match up.
pfrederi 17,741 #89 Posted August 29, 2022 If you get a Techy carb you may also need a spacer plate (yellow thing) or the throttle linkage hangs up on the block. Pic is my 10 hp would have to look at parts listing for your engine and carb to see if the 12hp needs it
ebinmaine 67,569 #90 Posted August 29, 2022 Snoopmiester I'll tell ya what. Send me that Kohler IST carb and I'll pay ya what ya got in it plus freight. I could legitimately use it on my own C160 bigger Tecumsehorse engine. Then get you a smallah carb.

Snoopy11 5,714 #92 Posted August 30, 2022 Well... I made some progress yesterday afternoon. I had to make a strap for the iggy-coil... which wasn't that hard. The ignition module had to get riveted to the engine top plate... 'cause there wasn't anywhere else to put it... One thing I will say... when you see this engine in person... it is simply gorgeous. I personally can't believe the transformation myself... The only parts I am missing are the ABS sensor which says it should be delivered today. I am also needing to purchase another carburetor now... as well as a regulator (I might purchase that later on after I know that everything on this engine runs and works properly)... I haven't had time to make the bracket for the ABS sensor... or run any wires. I also have to plumb in a flip switch for coil +power. I also have to put the muffler on (I have one in stock)... as well as fab an air filter adapter (I plan to go with a performance filter for cool factor). Sill a long way to go on this one... Snoopy11 5,714 #93 Posted August 30, 2022 Well, I just ordered another carb from IST... this time a K181... I can only hope that it fits... In the infamous words of @Evguy Don

Snoopy11 5,714 #98 Posted September 3, 2022 (edited) Only thing missing now is air cleaner (which I will make probably tomorrow)... and the regulator. I may buy a starter solenoid, key switch etc... for it as well. Power has been out here since last night... running on generator power so I couldn't do anything else but work on this engine. @Evguy... I'm a little behind schedule now to bring home the Z... hopefully still looking at a couple of weeks here (3 weekends at most, I think). I'm off to gorge myself on homemade fried chicken... compliments of the female lady women here on the funny farm... (lucky that we have a gas stove)... Only thing I would change about the above song is instead of "cold beer on a Friday night" ...I would rather have "cold Coke on a Friday night" Best part of the song @Jeff-C175... I thank God for my life And for the stars and stripes May freedom forever fly, let it ring Salute the ones who died The ones that give their lives so we don't have to sacrifice All the things we love Like our chicken fried K181 carb works great... although it needed A LOT of adjustments... 100_2112.MOV Don Edited September 3, 2022 by Snoopy11
