Ben nice find. Looks to be mostly original. Also looks clean for its age. Nothing like a Start/gen tractor.

Your very lucky to find one with the original front tires, the 10 hp Kohler is unique to this model also because of the large engine block and shallow oil pan needed to fit the short Wheel Horse fame. This Wheel Horse model was manufactured only a short time in 1965 although there is a discrepancy in the months it was produced.

Good Find !

Adding all my “uncommon” parts/attachments to it. Seat back, seat pad, square seat, front and rear weights, and a grader blade. Would like to find some hl5 head lights down the road.

So far it’s coming out exactly how I wanted it to.

Looking better Ben. The oil helps a lot. May be find a pad for the rear of the seat? Cool looking tractor.

Big blocks and short frames... my favorites. I have a 1075 but i love the rear fenders of the 1045.

About the seat. Is that the original seat? Also did they have different options on the seats for the 1045?

She’s a runner now, just have to button up a few things and it’s good to go.

@Bens vintage tractors been doing that for years , similar , do an initial penetrating oil aerosol spray down , let soak in a day , preferably in hot sun , the warm metal draws in and holds the lubricant , next day  clean cloth wipe down till dry , and do it again . that by itself is enough to retain patina , but have also gone from that step to a 6"  electric palm buffer , with a cleaner wax to break out paint , paint went to a very deep / clean red finish . now just regularly give them a clean oil sprayed cloth rub down .  faded / neglected paint is just begging for an oil feed , pete

If the serial number is still legible, please post it so that it can be added to the 1045 serial number list.

She runs and drives. Added a new belt and it’s good to go. Not sure if it’s charging but that’s a problem for another day.

Ben, I do not worry about charging. I just you a small plugin maintainer for the battery. Nappa sells a nice one. Clip or plug in. But if you need to parts are out there.

Update: The 1045 is a running machine. Not only does it run good it runs excellent. A little puff of smoke on first start but keep in mind the oil had gas in it and the carb had really bad gas in it as well. No knocks or funny noises.  AG’s and tri’s next.
