davem1111 2,030 #1 Posted August 19, 2022 Wondering if anyone can identify this plow and what model(s) it would fit. I may be selling a deck to the guy who has this, and he asked me about it. He has a 414-8 and I don't think it looks like it will fit the 300/400 series. If it's worth something, I may offer him some trade value on it. The handle is broken off but my guess is that shouldn't be hard to fix. It kinda looks like the blade is mounted upside down, to me...

davem1111 2,030 #4 Posted August 20, 2022 Does anyone have a year/model I can look up? I'm trying to get a part number on the plow but either it doesn't have one on it anymore, or the guy can't find it or didn't notice that I asked for it in my text. This deal is going down tomorrow AM, although he only lives a few miles from me so if I want to pick up the blade another time, it's not out of the question. I have no idea how much it is worth. Looking at the pictures, I can't see how this would mount on a 300/400 or even the B-100 I have, so I'd probably be picking it up for resale.
squonk 41,040 #5 Posted August 20, 2022 (edited) Will fit only the 200 series I think. Will not fit long frame C 300-500 series. It looks similar to the plow I had on a 210-H but not entirely the same. I think it's from the larger 200's Edited August 20, 2022 by squonk 1
76c12091520h 3,608 #6 Posted August 20, 2022 Looks like a mid 70's era blade for vertical shaft lawn tractors, possibly # 6-7123 or 6-7122, for something along the lines of the 800 Ranger 1
peter lena 8,589 #7 Posted August 20, 2022 @davem1111 whatever you come up with for information , agree with your frame to blade upside down look , think frame needs to be flipped over , bottom of quadrant area should be smooth to ground . another detail , thoroughly clean out / lubricate that quadrant swing , after initial assembly , I use a couple of milk crates , or gallon paint cans to raise frame off ground , with a roller stool , you can easily build linkage / grease / aerosol spray , swing function, you are also duplicating how its mounted on the tractor . detail in function / movement first , thats how it will swing/ move on the tractor . that spring loaded angle/ lever pin should move with smooth solid ease , like a rifle bolt . pete 1
peter lena 8,589 #8 Posted August 20, 2022 @davem1111 thats how I verify everything I set up , how does it work ? / function? , what's stopping it from being smooth / easy to use ? on the other hand if you want it to be old school , rusty / binding / beat the hell out of it to function , leave it alone . you can easily make attachments , levers. linkage points , very smooth / efficient in their action . that also goes for throttle and choke cable functions . pete

Right now I don't think either the owner or I have a tractor this blade would fit on, so it's a bit hard to visualize until I at least have some good pictures of the models it works with. Browsing through the manuals, it looks like it might be a 6-7123 for 1975 A-Series, but that's just a wild guess (yeah, it kinda looks like that). Will see if I can get a part number off of it. stevasaurus 22,712 #10 Posted August 20, 2022 Yes, the frame is upside down in that picture. That plate sticking in the ground should be up on the right side. Easy fix there.
davem1111 2,030 #11 Posted August 20, 2022 (edited) So it did have a serial number on it, starting with 96-42BA01. In the manuals section, searching for this does come up with 6-7123: "96-42BA01 and 06-42BA01 Dozer 1975 42in model 6-7123 1975 serial numbers that have shown up for the 6-7123 089676 089949" I didn't trade for it but the guy (Charlie) wants to find out if it can fit on his 414-8. I have some doubts, but also wonder. If it fits, he wants to keep it. If not, he will probably sell it. I'm also wondering if it would fit the B-100 I have, but if it will only fit vertical shaft tractors, then we're both out of luck. I sold him a good 42" SD deck and got a used, welded up 48" deck as a trade-in, which I think I can get into working condition without too much effort or new parts. I think he's going to be joining the forum too - I told him a lot about it. Edited August 20, 2022 by davem1111
peter lena 8,589 #12 Posted August 20, 2022 @davem1111 think that blade is a common point , you will probably find a common longer frame , that will work with it , pay attention to the front steering quadrant area , for no damage , that swap is easy .pete
Heatingman 971 #13 Posted August 20, 2022 Blade orientation looks right, but those springs are mounted on the wrong side of the steering knuckle. That will prevent changing of the angle of the blade. And the frame is upside down compared to the blade. - so I guess you could call that- being an upside down blade.
IndyFord2 50 #14 Posted September 2, 2022 with mod's to the mount & lift, made on work on my C-120. Snapping into the Atach-A-Matic is nice. Took a couple of try's to get the lift figured out. (Yes frame is upside down)

Took a couple of try's to get the lift figured out. (Yes frame is upside down) Very clever adaptation there. Nice execution and attention to detail. Do know that the mid-hitch was not designed to absorb extreme longitudinal loads. It was mainly a place for suspending and moving a mower deck and for light grading with a mid-blade. That's why tractors have the front blades attached to transaxle brackets (on later tractors, the mid-blade is also transaxle-attached). For light plowing, you probably won't have any issues, but this mount will add stress to the frame at the mid-hitch and, especially, where it bolts to the transaxle (the F plate).
