Belt Pulley and PTO Clutch

Recommended Posts

Mike'sHorseBarn

I'm switching my electro 12 back to an electric clutch. In the process I found that the drive pulley has a chunk missing out of it. My question is do I use this pulley and put the electric clutch on the outside of the drive pulley or do I need a pulley altogether? This is my first time messing with an electric clutch so I'm not sure. If I use that pulley I'll have to probably locate another one.

Since you have it off, I would replace it if you can find one.       Having said that, I have used Vee pulleys with that type of chunk missing w/o any problems.

Just round off and smooth the broken edge to prevent any belt wear.

Just curious,  why go back to an electric clutch?

I'm not planning on using it to mow as the deck is shot and being that an electric clutch is why they called it an electro, I decided to switch it back.

I would replace it if possible.

And I think keeping it as original as you can is a great idea.

The back of your engine pulley is # 106813   #7443   #7914 .  A new one is is available for just over $240....(Yeah..that's $240)  This is the exact same V-Pulley I have from a C-120 Auto (Kohler k301s)...yours  for $75. No chips, no rust, for 1-1/8" crankshaft.

With an electric clutch you do not need the four bolts that retained your clutch disk when using a manual clutch. Any five to five and a half by 5/8" pully with a 1 1/8" bore will be fine.

@ebinmaine just found this post with your advice! That is awesome to know - I just posted about how I bent my pulley, bent it back into shape, but now it has a fracture crack on it. Looking at this original post, looks like whoever had the tractor before @Mike'sHorseBarn probably did the same thing I did because the shape and location is almost spot on to me. I guess if my crack ever gets worst and a chunk breaks off too, good to know I can still run her!!

Mike did you ever end up replace the pulley?

Makes sense since you already had it off. Thanks for letting me know!
