A little bit each time move food closer to door. Don’t try to catch him. Let him see you without making moves which would seem threatening. Takes time. Cats have a good memory.

Haven’t seen him since the 13th. But the kids are are here this week and next, so alot of action here. Mabe after next week he will come around

Animals are a lot smarter and have more feelings than people are willing to admit. Years ago in a moment of anger I also put our beloved Bailey outside. She never left the side of the house and as soon I opened the door she came back in. It took however over six months for her to trust me again just making me feel guilty every single day if it.

 Also when I was younger and lived with my parents I had a German Shepherd. Decided one day to get another one. Every since that day I was never able to touch her again. She would bite me. Would never show aggression but I just could never touch her. Would respond and obey but again could not touch her. My parents however could always touch her as before. She played with the new shepherd and they were always great with each other. I however was never forgiven.

Yes I agree animals are not dumb.
Here is another thing I feel bad about, since he has been on carpet and vinyl floor all his life, im sure his feet are tender and hurts him.  hopefully by this time they have toughened up.

Ok i was out feeding the other cats And I called for him and I heard faint meowing. I kept calling him and he came from under the porch. He let me pick him up. He and the other cats are still hissing at each other. I put him in the garage for the night. 
 

now what do I do?  He is still skittish about the outside and the other cats. I thought about getting a harness and leash and seeing if he will get used to being outside. 
 

any other suggestions? Im afraid if i let him loose again he will go back in to hidding

Does he look as though he has been eating? One thing he misses (being an indoor cat) is his litter box. 

I will check with my daughter who is a vet tech and get her advice.

Yes he does look like he has been eating. He hasn’t used the litter box yet. Thanks for asking your daughter.

So I contacted my daughter and she said:

 

Older cats can be tough to rehome. Can he live in the garage?? Inside cats can’t just go to outside. They don’t know how to defend themselves, find warm/cool places, get along with tough guy cats…. I would suggest reaching out to rescues and be honest about him needing to be an only cat.

 

Does he pee inside?? If he is well behaved besides not getting along with other cats, someone will adopt him.

Thanks he is a good cat, but he got very aggressive with our 15 year old female. He attacked her very aggressive, that is why we put him out. Im sure if he was alone, he would be ok. But to his defense, she is very grumpy and even hisses at us if we pet her more than two strokes

If her behavior has recently changed and she is reluctant to let you pet her, she is probably in pain either from and illness or injury. You might want to get her checked out by the vet. Cats (the male) can sense when another cat is vulnerable, and because of the male desire to be dominant, will attack. Not a good situation.

Leave him in garage for now and watch his litter habits there. Hard situation being attached to the two of them. Any chance of dividing house in half?

He is in my garage/wood shop. When my kids leave Friday, I am going to put a harness on him and walk or carry him around the house to mabey get used to the outside. He will allways be able to get into one if the garages

 Ok first time with the harness and leash. He just dropped to the ground. And when he tried to walk, he stumbles. I carried him out side he seemed ok. I’ll take him out later today.

Well the cat has pretty much settled in to my garage. He is scared to death to go outside. He starts shaking and growling and hissing at anything he sees. 

I guess he will live in the garage for now. I will have to get a cage to put him in when I open the big door to get the tractor and stuff out.

I had a heated 'cat house' in my garage for our mouser.  A big heavy duty cardboard box with a sleeping shelf and a 15 W light bulb underneath.  It had a thermostat which I kept at 55° F.  When it got really cold I had to go up to a 25W bulb. I kept finding it turned up to 80 and paw prints all over it!  One day I couldn't find my tablet... he had it in there and was looking at "Kitty Porn" !
