i’ve went down a inch and it’s wayyy to small

Not trying to be an A-hole... but that is nonsensical.

Look here, I overlooked Mike's comment, but it is very telling...

the height the idler pulley is in this picture tells me the belt is now too long for this set up

AND... to back that up with a picture that I also overlooked...

In my opinion... it looks like you could go down 2 inches, and it would still not be perfect... :confusion-confused:

I guess I could always break out some of my belts and machines and prove this point... but I sure hope that isn't necessary... :eusa-think:

I would suggest to do what Pullstart and Jim have mentioned and get good original mounting location for the engine and go from there.

You have no belt guards on the engine so I fully expect that to be the case.

May we have a picture of the pulley system with the smaller belt...?

That is a REALLY old picture, but you can see my belt guards in this picture. Without those on the engine pulley, my transmission would grind...

One other thing you need to know...

Once you get everything in working order, and get the correct size belt on... the tab on the clutch pulley needs to be bent inward a tad bit... as it is WAY too far out in this picture...

It needs to be bent in here... you want just enough room inbetween the tab and the pulley to get the belt in and out without having to bend the tab at all...
