Keith of kent 46 #1 Posted August 7, 2022 After cutting some rough stuff yesterday the clutch pedal of my 73 Raider 12 was shaking up and down and the whole machine sounded very unhappy. Took the drive belt cover off today and found a bit of twig maybe 1/2" diameter and 1" long jammed in the "V" of the transmission pulley. So the belt couldn't seat properly. Easily recified. Wild Bill in VA 1,452 #3 Posted August 7, 2022 It gets me wound up when the drive belt breaks and the tractor is down the hill 5 blocks away, then you make 3 walking trips back to the garage thinking you have found the correct replacement belt and then end up towing the tractor back home because you didn't have the right belt. peter lena 8,634 #4 Posted August 7, 2022 @Keith of kent been there to a lesser degree , had cut back some very large thorn bush branches , was grinding them up in low range 1 st gear , when one of them decided it was not going like the rest , suddenly jumped up from deck area to side of steering wheel . pulled up pto drive lever , throttle down , got off and found it wound up in mower deck lift carriage. found some other pieces of that vine , in the area , was like barb wire tough , used brush cutter long reach to clear deck , get thorny , pete Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

rick 233 #6 Posted August 8, 2022 When I was working at the saw shop (also a Toro dealer) we had a customer that had broken a deck belt. Sold him a replacement, he was back shortly decrying the sorry belt. William gave him a second belt. After the third belt he was told to bring the machine in. peter lena 8,634 #7 Posted August 8, 2022 @rick , did not actually like it but can relate to brush issues , often refer to checking out your stuff ,when its going very good , thats when I've found a number of about to fail issues , used to be wiring , but mechanical function areas , sloppy play , not moving with ease ,etc , really shows' its head . that led me on my lubrication addiction , enhancement . just regularly go over my horses , and rotate usage , thats been working for me , stay after it , pete 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
