If I ever wanted to get the restoration started of my RJ-58 for the big 25th Annual Wheel Horse Show next year the fame had to come out of the garage! Well, that doesn't sound hard to do, does it? Argh the RJ frame was underneath the front of a model 704 and the rear of a 1966 Lawn Ranger with only the top of the RJ-58's hood stand showing in the 8-inch-wide space. If you study the pictures the red gas can in the center is sitting on the seat of my Senior and the toolboxes off to the right is where the Lawn Ranger and 704 are hiding the RJ-58 frame. Under the brown cardboard box is my 633 Diesel Beast, you can just see the chrome exhaust stack. Oh yes, all this stuff has to be moved to get the tractors out to bring them to the show.

Thanks for posting this picture Bill!  Showed it to my wife and she began to realize I'm not the only Wheel Horse owner that has several UFOs (un-finished-objects).            :ychain:

I may do the same. Or maybe not.

Bill, I will be digging my RJ out of the shed to start a restoration soon.  (it's way in the back right now). This was restored many years ago and I want to re-restore this one a little nicer than it is right now. I also need to rebuild the correct transmission and replace the suburban transmission that's currently in the tractor. That was one of those things that was suppose to be a  temporary fix that was put aside for other projects. Bill you can re-interview me in the parade next June with this tractor. Enjoy your restoration.

If I remember correctly there are 3 different differentials that came on the side plate Unidrive transmissions. The first 2 were a solid gear/center section but had different teeth patterns, one was course and the other was a fine tooth. The later for the Suburban series used a bolt on ring gear. Re-interveiw you for the parade .... of course I will .... but be prepared the 25th Annual Wheel Horse Show parade will be the longest ever, I will start the parade at 12:00pm Friday and predict it will end about 15 minutes before the Cruise Night starts!

Kevin, just remember .... I don't do the wash at my house. Did Rylee put you up to this post ??? As I remember she watched very carefully while we swapped parts over on the raffle prize RJ-58 to see if my white pants got dirty .... and they didn't get a bit a grease on them.
