270H electric PTO and PTO light not working

Recommended Posts

My 270H with power lift and 48” mulching deck has an issue with the PTO and PTO light not working.   I’ve been able to engage the PTO by connecting it directly to battery with a jumper.   I’ve checked the fuses and the 4 relays and have a new PTO switch and all test OK.   Any recommendations on what could be causing my electrical problem?   Before it stopped working completely, it would work for about 45 mins then shut down.  Sometimes it would renengage when I cycled the switch but no longer does that.

I would check the resistance of the PTO Coil, as I've had to replace a few of those clutches.    Also check the air gap on the clutch.  They do wear and need peiodic adjustment.

It does have the no mow in reverse system and I suspect that could be the problem   Is there a way to test it?
Also, the PTO wire leads do not show power when the switch is pulled.
