:confusion-confused:          Perhaps it is used to apply pressure to edge banding on curved surfaces while the adhesive is setting up.     :confusion-shrug:

Not to be confused with the Do-Hickey or the seldom seen Affis-Straffis...

Well I figured it was either a Thingamabob or a Whoosywhatsitt.

It just had more characteristics of a Thingamabob. Not enough pieces for a Whoosywhatsitt.

The Do-Hickey usually is rather simple in construction - The Afffis-Straffis has a LOT more parts - many provide movement - as mentioned, seldom seen ...

Here is a clue. Since it has a handle it is for pushing and pulling.look at it closely.

Now that's a better view. But I've still not got a clue. :confusion-confused:

The thin oval end reminds me of the Handsaw retainers in the top of HIS Dad's wooden tool chest ....

Look closely at all its components and their shapes.

Thanks for pulling me in here.

I'll say up front that all the above mentioned names have decent working potential but I do believe Thingamabob is closest.

None of those names are what popped in to my feeble immature mind and mine were less... Family friendly... So I'll let it be at that.

It's actual purpose....

I'd guess a pusher of something on a larger tool like a table saw, router table etc.

Interesting to note it appears to be dirty only on one side. Could just be camera angle.

Heck I'm stumped.

The hook on the piece under the handle has my at a loss.

Also with the lower part of that oval stub being able to rotate.

I assume the handle is used in the traditional upright position.

Does it actually have anything to do with carpentry?

I was wondering that myself.

If the lower stub was different I would guess a new style of tire mounting device.

You are warming up on the principle of it. No handsaw.

100% with woodworking.
