416H Drive Belt Rubbing On Itself

Recommended Posts

CountryRock

As the title says, I've discovered that the drive belt on the 416H is rubbing on itself.  It is a Rotary replacement for Toro 114895, 5/8x83.  What would be causing this?

No idea.  I wish I still had the old belt to compare to.

Take it to your local TSC and compare it to a Huskee 5/8X83

@CountryRock  looks like the belt is upside down ? think the bottom of the belt , flat run should be on the top of the big idler pulley ? original routing would never have them that close , also note the dry , bushing end of the lift arm assembly .

Not sure how it could be upside down.  That idler is putting downward tension on the belt and I don't think it can go any other way.  I'm confused.  Why couldn't Toro put something in the manual about the belt?  Would've made things a lot easier.

Looks like it's on right to me.

Put a line on the outside of the belt with a marker and measure the outside circumference with a tape measure to see if the belt is indeed 83" long. How about a picture of the entire belt installed .Maybe some changed a pulley at some point. An 8 spd engine pulley is smaller. If someone did a swap at some point, it would change the belt length.

I put an OEM 114895 belt on and it seems to be better.  I measured the width of each belt and the OEM is 15 to 20 thousandths wider than the Rotary at the widest point.  Hopefully that was the only issue.  I didn't see anything else out of the ordinary when I had the wheel off.
