Tom Such 0 #1 Posted August 2, 2022 Hello gang. Thinking of buying a second Toro WHEELHORSE for my son in law. 312 (1990). Cheap enough but current owner says mower deck won’t lock-in upright position. Is this a tough repair? I am fairly handy. Thanks
ri702bill 8,296 #2 Posted August 2, 2022 Tom - adjust item #20 for proper length adjustment per the note below. Be sure the chain in bolted thru the bottom most link into the Lever Arm. Bill

Tom Such 0 #4 Posted August 2, 2022 Is item #41 something that may be broken not allowing the lever to “lock” in place? How hard would that be to replace?
squonk 41,040 #5 Posted August 2, 2022 (edited) The eye bolt #22 is almost always bent on these. You may need to replace it. I have never seen #41 go bad. Edited August 2, 2022 by squonk
peter lena 8,589 #6 Posted August 2, 2022 @Tom Such welcome tom , @ri702bill schematic is an excellent reference , not only to layout / function , but to show you often neglected lubrication areas, every one of those starting / bushing points should have an aerosol lubricant , sprayed in and worked for function , watch the rust run out. when lubricated it should work . with ease , just a suggestion , pete
rjg854 11,354 #7 Posted August 2, 2022 You may have to adjust the nut on the eye bolt, so when you lift the deck, the rubber mounts hit the foot boards when the lift bar locks into place.
