CountryRock 199 #1 Posted August 1, 2022 I'm trying to get the transmission and motion control issues sorted out on a 1995 416H. I was having trouble getting it to reach and hold top speed without having to hold the motion control lever fully forward first. the lever would slowly drift back without doing that. I attempted friction washer adjustment which helped somewhat, but the lever would then be too hard to push forward. Secondly, I attempted to adjust neutral on the cam plate with the eccentric, going by the procedure in the Eaton manual and now it sounds like the transmission wants to go into motion when I push the brake pedal down. Thirdly, the brake pedal always has seemed quite hard to push down when trying to slow down and stop the tractor. Please walk me through what i need to look at and do to remedy all this. Thanks. CountryRock 199 #2 Posted August 1, 2022 Here's a couple pictures of the motion cam plate on the transmission with the lever fully forward and reverse. Anything look worn? The video is of the heim joint ends on the motion control linkage. Are they supposed to wobble that much? VID_20220801_155618.mp4
lynnmor 7,352 #3 Posted August 1, 2022 Perfectly normal, you only need to replace if there is play in the same direction as the rod pushes and pulls. I see you used some oil which is good, use it on every joint except the friction washer. Since you are experiencing what seems like an issue with the friction washers, disassemble that joint and remove the top and bottom washers, then clean with parts cleaner. The washers may be sanded flat of flipped to get a new surface.

It was a bit loose and gave me some slop in the lever.
lynnmor 7,352 #5 Posted August 1, 2022 All bolts need to be tight, the nut over the friction washers is just snug and is adjusted to suit.
