Tool Pin

Recommended Posts

Retired Wrencher

Hi. I looking to find or make a tool pin p/n #1813, would like to know the length of the pin going into the receiver.  These where for the pivoting hitch on the 60's tractors. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a couple of these but they are different lengths. I'll measure them later this morning.

Based on that pin being 1/2” diameter, it looks like about 2-1/2” to my eyecrometer.

Not the easiest thing to make at home, bending 1/2" diameter stock into a closed loop.

The one I have measures 4-1/4 inches overall, 2 inches from the bottom of the loop down to the cross hole, cross hole for 1/8 inch hitchpin is 1/4 inch up from the point.

When installed, the hitchpin hole is 3/4 inch away from the cast hitch.

I used to scarf the motor lifting rings off of scrap electric motors from work and drill a hole in them for the clip.

Just buy a 1/2" eye bolt and cut and shape to the length you want. :ychain: And be done with it.  ;)

That's what I do, what I don't like is that only the threads were 1/2" and the remainder is only 7/16".  If someone knows of a source for true 1/2" eye bolts, please post it.

Or a long 1/2” bolt, cut to length, handle added for convenience.  @Achto has been known to make a mean hitch pin out of a farm store pin and a bad 3rd gear…

Or what ever else I can find to weld to a piece of 1/2" round stock. :) Welded some nuts together on some to make a brass knuckle looking top. The one for my rat rod is some nuts welded together to resemble a :wh: logo.

It is a total waste of time to wash & wax a garage queen like that - it was meant for forward motion, not wax on - wax off lotion...

Tractor Supply has eye bolts. Get a long one like lynnmor showed and cut off the threads. Will look like original...

Gotta use your imagination, but you can kind of see a :wh: logo.

Tractor supply has long ones to make it look original I may do that. I will cut off the treaded part. I did not measure them definitely long enough to make look original.
