Retired Wrencher 5,444 #1 Posted August 1, 2022 (edited) Hi. I looking to find or make a tool pin p/n #1813, would like to know the length of the pin going into the receiver. These where for the pivoting hitch on the 60's tractors. Any help would be appreciated. Edited August 1, 2022 by Retierd Wrencher
rmaynard 15,431 #2 Posted August 1, 2022 I have a couple of these but they are different lengths. I'll measure them later this morning.
Pullstart 62,812 #3 Posted August 1, 2022 Based on that pin being 1/2” diameter, it looks like about 2-1/2” to my eyecrometer.
ri702bill 8,296 #4 Posted August 1, 2022 Not the easiest thing to make at home, bending 1/2" diameter stock into a closed loop. The one I have measures 4-1/4 inches overall, 2 inches from the bottom of the loop down to the cross hole, cross hole for 1/8 inch hitchpin is 1/4 inch up from the point. When installed, the hitchpin hole is 3/4 inch away from the cast hitch. Bill
rjg854 11,354 #5 Posted August 1, 2022 Just buy a 1/2" eye bolt and cut and shape to the length you want. And be done with it. 10
squonk 41,040 #6 Posted August 1, 2022 I used to scarf the motor lifting rings off of scrap electric motors from work and drill a hole in them for the clip.

That's what I do, what I don't like is that only the threads were 1/2" and the remainder is only 7/16". If someone knows of a source for true 1/2" eye bolts, please post it.

Pullstart 62,812 #10 Posted August 1, 2022 Or a long 1/2” bolt, cut to length, handle added for convenience. @Achto has been known to make a mean hitch pin out of a farm store pin and a bad 3rd gear… 2

Welded some nuts together on some to make a brass knuckle looking top. The one for my rat rod is some nuts welded together to resemble a logo. 2 5

ri702bill 8,296 #17 Posted August 1, 2022 It is a total waste of time to wash & wax a garage queen like that - it was meant for forward motion, not wax on - wax off lotion...

I did not measure them definitely long enough to make look original.
