D250

Hello guys I had a few questions about the D250. I have read the tranny is the weakest thing on it. Is there a way to make it stronger? I also read that it can make 35+ horse power. Would it hurt any thing to open the hp up? How would it hold up to pulling. That why ask if you can strengthen the tranny.

TJ, you are an ambitious young man.    :handgestures-thumbupright:     I have never had any experience with a D-250 and know that parts are scarcer than hen's teeth.   :twocents-02cents:  To me it seems like the D-250 would be money pit and your results wouldn't be worth the effort.   Pullers like @fast88pu stick with the gear jammer conventional :wh: platform for a reason, it is tough as nails and parts are readily available if something goes wrong.

If you do attempt to build up a D-250 puller we will all be interested in the results, post plenty of :text-coolphotos:.

1. The rear won't make it 5' with the stock internals.

2. Tractor is too nose heavy with the Renault 4cyl...

3. You would be limited to a bike class with the 4cyl.

4. Too heavy

5. Parts availability when they brake.

So in the end just fine a good c , 300, 400 series to make a puller out of

The D250 is a big a$$ machine. it's bigger than the JD425 I have, and thought that was big. But IMO, in order to make a puller outta it, change the motor and trans. The early ones had the weak trans, not sure just how strong the later ones are. I have one with the weak trans, it works, but makes noises, and snaps your neck if backing up and push the clutch in, it stops lol. The motor runs good, but doesn't make power. Don't know what the deal is. I want to swap the motor for a 3 banger diesel and the rear from a JD318. But if you found the right motor, trans and rear, there might be enough length to a more traditional combo. They did it to cub cadets.....

Will they hold up pulling a trailer? That what I meant to ask.
