What is a reasonable offer?

Recommended Posts

EnHanceHorse

Hello - I have a 97 520-H. Currently it’s only running on one cylinder. I’ve done a few things but I need the space and need to get rid of it. I believe it to be a valve seat issue.

It has a 60” deck and a plow. 700hrs. Paint is less than average.

What is a reasonable offer I should list it as in the ohio market?

Appreciate it

:WRS:

It will be difficult to interest the average buyer in a :wh: or any other brand when it has mechanical problems and the cosmetic condition is less than desirable. If it has the gear reduction steering that would be a big plus, people here may buy it just for that feature. You probably would be best off listing it in our classified section rather than local listings. :twocents-02cents:  Perhaps $400 OBO would would be a good starting point, others may have different opinions.

A reasonable offer is one that both the seller and buyer agree on.

Decide you much you think it is worth, then keep an open mind when offers come in.  If no offers come in, rethink how much you  think it is worth.

Good luck.

97’ is the last year for the 520H.  It has a swept axle and gear reduction steering.  Many want this option. Some steering setups are considerably worn while some are perfect. The engine is not worth repairing.  However, it is good for parts.  Muffler, carb, intake, stator, coil, ignition pickup module, etc, are all desired by many to keep their engines running.  The 60” deck and mule drive are worth some money but if spindles are damaged, it’s difficult to repair or replace.  The plow is also a nice option but it depends on condition and if all parts to use it are with it  Essentially, you are offering a roller tractor with a deck and plow.

Finally, the cost of fuel, trailer expenses, and time are considered in.  On average, it costs me $100-$200 to pickup a tractor.  That’s just my costs and no time considered.

That being said, I would think $300 - $400 is fair.  Taking the time to part out will net you more but again, that takes time, tools, and knowledge.
