Onan Engine? 416-H

Picked this up last weekend and rookie mistake I just assumed because of the serial # it had an Onan engine. What am I looking at here or rather what kind of engine, I am not that mechanically inclined.

Yeah, Onan Performer P216.  Usually good, smooth running engines if you keep the oil clean.

Correct. It's a P216 Onan twin. It's a 1991. Also has the Eaton 1100 tranny which takes 30wt motor oil or your favorite 10w 30 brand. Lots of opinions, but you'll be fine with it. It's a good model IMHO

Thanks so much all, much appreciated truly. I am going to keep the oil change fresh for sure.

Give the manual a good read. There are separate, and different, oil filters for the engine and the transmission--you can use the same 10w-30 oil in both but there are two separate circuits.

As noted, the P216 is a good engine but it expects to be taken care of properly.

Good luck and enjoy!

Thank you and will do. I am reading through it right now and making a list of maintenance items.
