Twin exhaust

We are about to order a header from Midwest Super cub…. Unless you guys have a better idea…. They mainly make parts for cub cadet but the engine stuff will all work on our tractors. We have a Kohler CH20 that we are building. I was wonder if anyone has a measurement from the exhaust flange to the outside of the hood. I’m looking for a clearance measurement so the paint doesn’t get burn and the exhaust doesn’t run on the hood.

Any pictures or measurement will be appreciated!!

Are they proclaiming a power gain using their stuff?  If not, I’ve built plenty of GT exhaust with old truck headers.  They are 1-1/2” or 1-5/8” typically and have all kinds of fun random radius bends to choose from.

Great repurpose on the old exhaust parts. The last picture says it all  - twin open stacks, two thumbs up, eye protection & a big grin. Good thing it was not a Yt video... might disturb the Video Po-Po....!!

I really love the thoughts in repurposeing things! I just bought a trailer and it needed inner fenders really bad. I just replaced my washing machine and had the vision of cutting inner fenders out of it. A few minutes with a tape measure and cut off wheel and I had inner fenders. I think they are thinker gage then the originals.

They have a few different diameter pipes for engines with more horse power. They also say tunable. No claims of horsepower gains I guess because of so many options in performance parts but I would think they could always go off of gains on a stock engine?

This is the pipe most guys run and add sections to it when they are on the dyno.

I agree , it doesn’t look all that difficult to make. I would think a tig weld would be best. I have a Lincoln mig welder and I’m pretty decent at sticking metal together. The thing I’d be concerned about is getting everything matted up so there isn’t any restrictions on the inside. 
In this sport every small detail in horsepower gain is important.

Here I would like to quote the great T. Fixes All "it's not the space shuttle, it's a lawn mower" 

 

If you have a MIG welder and you're pretty decent at sticking metal together you'll be fine using it instead of TIG. If you set up your machine just right you'll get good penetration without creating stalagtites on the inside.

If you start at the engine and work your way out to the header and place langer pipes OVER the smaller previous one, looking from the header 'out' so to speak, you will have no restrictions or bottlenecks.

That’s the one we are looking at. Did you order right off the shelf or have them custom make it?

 

we usually wrap our exhaust but I was thinking the same as you’ve done with the ceramic powder coating.

The 1-1/8" exhaust header is Midwest Super Cub P/N 51440. They also have a 1-1/4" header, P/N 51444. The racing muffler is Joe's P/N 22801. Make sure you are sitting down when you get the quote from Jet-Hot.

When I came home from work my son was waiting ready to buy all the items in his MWSC shopping cart. 
We ended up ordering the 1 1/8” exhaust and a few hundred dollars of other “necessary” parts. 😂👍
