Miss placed key

Anyone have a solution, other than replacing the ignition switch, for a lost key to a GT14?  Darn thing has gone missing!

The GT14 didn't use the 'standard' Wheel Horse key?

 

@Pullstart - you've run a couple of GT14's through your shop.  They use a standard key or not?

You can get a key at Lowes, Home Depot, Advance Auto, NAPA or most any mower sales shop.

 @JimSraj  pick up a small squeeze clip that you can squeeze on to your  throttle lever , I  personally use an I/D  badge clip , with nylon fishing braid line  on mine , been there , with the key loss, clip on every time I  use the horse , it works , pete   https://www.idwholesaler.com/2105-2093-pla.html?_bt=&_bk=&_bm=e&_bn=o&creative=&keyword=&matchtype=e&network=o&device=c&offer_id=2105-2    only as a reference , pick up this or similar  , h/w store , etc , had these on my work badge

Me too! Not anymore!! We all "had to" wear ours (except middle & upper management felt they were oh so privelaged and decided not to) What a hoot to watch them all scurry around looking for theirs when the Corporate folks would pop in, unannounced!!

@ri702bill  yes can definitely relate to that scene !  all of them crawling  pushing their way to the front to grovel and scrape !  how pathetic . then typically , out of work early so they could go golfing with that puke , glad to be a grunt , pete

We had one over-the-top, back stabbing over achieveing Project Manager (the one that fired off an email to the Corporate folks telling them how he could save the company a ton of cash by letting go of 6 of us - the 7 in house Manufacturing Engineers that designed and spec'ed new equipment, and outsource ALL our duties to Cheap-o-nesia.) I know some of you might "have" to take the key out of your tractor, but in my case, I'm the only one that uses my tractors, so my keys stay in the tractor. I have a hard enough time trying to find the tools I'm working with, without searching for a key.

@ranger amazing how even though there is an ocean between us , we can share a common experience with dysfunctional management . on the opposite side of that , was the retired navy chief I had as a shift foreman . stand up guy , matter of fact , get it done , there with you on a 2 am call in , to get you all the help you needed . working for him , was like not even working , that by the way also not liked by the upper crust . you know what I  mean . go grunt , pete

I also am the only one in our household that uses the tractors.  However, the neighbor's grandchild is a curious lad that feels free to make himself at home in my shop and tractor storage areas.

 

In my case, removing the key is also a safety issue.

When I was growing up there was a neighbor boy who had no limits.  We might be watching tv in another room and we would hear the door open.  Then the cookie jar. Next thing ya know there was another kid watching tv with us.

I always keep extra keys around just incase. Fact I even keep some in my truck case I lose one at a show. Of course one style of key does not cover all 's. I keep extras of 3 kinds in stock.

 

Ferguson 2 prong style for the round hoods.

Cole Hersee key for the early square hoods.

 

Indak key for the later model's

 

With this assortment I can start most any

yes Dan best to have a couple extras in reserve to use at shows!   I keep two sets of the three you posted in my truck.
