Rustyred 63 #1 Posted July 25, 2022 I rebuilt a C-81 - great tractor - but I've moved to Austria. I can't find another old Wheel Horse! What I have found is a used Toro Wheel Horse 16-38HXL. Should I buy it?? Please any help with this decision is needed. The price is 1290.00 but I could likely get it down a little. The machine does not have an hour meter. Model: 28Q777. Type: 0690-E1. Code: 010301ZE. The tractor has been repainted from what I see. Picture attached. Who has opinion? Thanks!!!

Your selection of Wheel Horses in Austria will be rather limited so if your plans are to mow and tow with it then this looks like a good candidate for the job.
sjoemie himself 3,068 #3 Posted July 25, 2022 @Rustyred depends on what you want/need I guess? Like @953 nut said, if you want to mow and tow (a bit) this is probably just fine. Don't hate me for this but if you want a more serious tractor to plow and do other 'ground engaging' work with, i'm sure you can find a Gutbrod, Agria or Maybe even a Kubota for around €1500 - €2000,-
lynnmor 7,308 #4 Posted July 25, 2022 In my opinion, that is just a basic light duty lawn mower and I would compare it to other low priced mowers available there to arrive at a fair price.
Rustyred 63 #5 Posted July 25, 2022 Sooo... The fact that it is a wheel horse (Toro) doesn't mean much? sorry to say?

No that tractor is pretty much a run of the mill box store lawnmower. Which is fine if all you want to do is mow the lawn. 4 hours ago, sjoemie himself said: i'm sure you can find a Gutbrod, Agria or Maybe even a Kubota for around €1500 - €2000,- I had to google gutbrod and agria.......my silly american brain didn't know what those were! After looking at pics of both I think you'd be good with either, they look cool! I like the articulating agria, are they all diesel?
sjoemie himself 3,068 #7 Posted July 25, 2022 @Mike'sHorseBarn i'm no export on those tractors but think that most of them are diesel. The articulating ones are probably 2 cylinder air cooled diesels.

rmaynard 15,516 #10 Posted May 24, 2023 My opinion only - look at the rear wheels. Lawn tractor Garden tractor If you had a C-81, you won't be happy with anything less.
