WH Hitch

Recommended Posts

ReelFaster

Hey gang looking to pickup my first WH tomorrow. I've lined up to purchase a 416-H with low hours. Anyways I intend on putting a hitch on it to move some small trailers around the yard, something like this and this. Wanted to ask how difficult was to install and what's involved. Thanks much in advance!

Super easy, they just bolt on around the axle.

Absolutely agreed.

I recommend the second one. That's from Lowell and Joette at Wheelhorse Parts and More.  Good folks.

I second Eric’s comment. I just did this. It fits like a glove and is stout as hell.

Just need to make sure your original hitch pin is free.

And that is EXACTLY why I do this with all of mine - undo one clip, push it out with ONE finger... going on 10 years now.....

Just remember to leave the toung wheel on the trailer down and a couple inches off of the ground - it will act as a wheelie bar in case the trailer hangs up on something and the tractor decides to rotate around the back axle.

Also remember that your 416-H will get more weight moving than it has brakes to stop.  Be very careful moving trailers on hills with your tractor.

I quoted this because I believe it deserves being read a second time... and adhered to.

I pull some things up out of my forest with my own Horses I would never advise others do.

My towing Horses are specially set up and I have extensive training in safety and moving loads.

Concerns well taken and thank you. I pull these items (Bass Boat, Utility trailer, Firewood trailer) around with my current riding Craftsman mower all on flat land. I've never had an issue, however I do intend on pulling a bit more weight with the WH with loaded firewood.

I know I tried to get a couple from you but you said you were low on stock and would have to get back with me or I’d have a few. 😉

Luckily for me all my grade is fairly level on property. Have trails through the woods that are twisty and hilly but will never move anything big through those except my yard trailer and log splitter possibly.

I notice the receiver hitch is sold with a #104659 bracket or without. Not quite sure what that is, thanks in advance!!!

That would be the two metal flats that go below the axle to mount to mount the hitch.

If you had a plow mount on the rear axle you'd go without the bracket and mount the hitch to the plow mount.  As you don't show a plow mount you need the version with the bracket.

Thank you! That's the one I ordered. Looking forward to mounting it and testing it all out.

Hitch arrived this week and got it mounted this morning. It is really a great product, as mentioned extremely stout and well made. Already gave the wood trailer a test drive, feels great.

@ReelFaster  when you hook up that  under axel  plow frame mount , use this type of safety clip , https://www.webstaurantstore.com/nemco-46281-hitch-pin-clip-for-6450-pizza-merchandisers/59246281.html?utm_  also push it thru the stop to the end big loop , so you will not loose it . also aerosol lubricate all related linkage areas , these clips too . pete
