Ed Kennell 38,181 #1 Posted July 18, 2022 I experienced a devasting loss last Sunday. I was looking at an old tractor at the local auction house last Sunday when two of the employees hooked a trailer and left to clear out a house. One was a 58 yo female employee that did all clerical, organizing, photos, and advertising. She was one of the most pleasant persons I have ever known. I had a quick conversation with her as they were leaving at 1:00PM on Sunday. An hour later, I received a call that she had suffered a fatal accident at the house. She opened an inside door that had clothing hanging inside. Thinking it was a closet, she stepped in to gather the clothing. It was not a closet but a door to the basement. She fell to her instant death. 27

Pullstart 62,902 #3 Posted July 18, 2022 So sad to hear Ed… We are close to some folks down the street. I often mention my good ole’ boy neighbor, be it helping him out or him visiting. His wife fell a few weeks ago feeding the hummingbirds and broke her hip. The anesthesia from the surgery did something to her mentally and when she awoke she was in a comatose state. Drowsy, mute, very immobile. She is barely mumbling now and has been moved to a rehab facility not for her hip to heal, but just for her to regain motor skills, speech, etc. She went from being the sweet neighbor who drives a stick shift and does anything for everyone, to completely helpless and embarrassed. 14
Racinbob 11,082 #4 Posted July 18, 2022 Our condolences and prayers Ed. What a tragic loss. Not only do we all need to be kind but we need to stay in touch with family and friends and not procrastinate until it's too late. Ken and Susan were good friends and co-workers prior to our move to Florida in 2000. We lost touch in the 17 years down there. After our return in 2017 I can't count the number of times Nancy and I have said that we need to get in touch with them and go visit. Well, I guess we used the excuse that life just got in the way and didn't. We'll be visiting this afternoon but it just won't be the same. We are going to Susan's funeral. 10
formariz 11,987 #5 Posted July 18, 2022 Sorry to hear about your loss Ed. Good words” Be kind…. Life is short”. We should all remember those words every day. It would make us slow down and be more compassionate and understanding of others. Don’t leave for another day appreciating someone or telling them how important they may be to our lives. You may not have that opportunity again and you will always regret not having done so. On the other side of it apply it also to our selves. You will not be remembered for how much money you may have had or stuff you accumulated but rather by your actions towards others and what you did to better their lives. Words of wisdom to live by. 3

SPINJIM 1,981 #8 Posted July 18, 2022 (edited) Sorry, Ed, to hear about your friend. We took my grand daughter to the ortho doctor today for a broken ankle, and while in the waiting room, there were at least 20 patients who came through with new casts, crutches, or wheelchairs from new injuries. One of the patients just found out he will have to have surgery for a badly broke ankle and leg. Must have been a busy weekend at ERs and Urgent Care. Reminded me that at my age, I have to be more careful. Have been up on a tall ladder a few times recently, but don't tell my wife. 19richie66 17,508 #9 Posted July 18, 2022 I lost a friend three weeks ago to an auto accident. They said he was trying to get home and possibly speeding, lost control and got ejected from his truck after it rolled. Life is short for sure. Sorry for your loss Ed.
