Hydrostatic Nylon Slide Question

I bought this C120 automatic and the motion lever doesn't have a lot of travel and I am thinking it is something in the slide area because someone had replaced the screws/springs with just screws.

 

Can you replace the nylon slide without taking the motion lever out?? Looks like you can get it out without doing that?? I am wondering about getting the ball stud in the new slide.

Early Wheelamatics used the small springs to hold the slider in place.  Later hydros ones like yours the spring tension is provided and adjusted by the big spring on the motion control cross shaft.  (Wheelamatics didn't have that big spring and cone assembly)

Simple repair and yes to all of your questions...I have done several....Easy Peasy !!  Clean looking tunnel / tractor you have there

It looks like your nylon slide is not seated in the groove.     You should be able to remove it w/o much disassembly.

It's not seated because I loosened the small screws, but didn't want to go any further until I was sure I could replace the slide without taking everything apart.

Doesn't the small screws/springs put some tension on the slide??

 

I have another C120 automatic that has the two small screws/springs.

I replaced those screws with Allen head screws, because it's much easier to get an Allen wrench in there as compared to a screw driver.  

The ears on those two tabs can be bent to hold the cam in place.

The tension on your model is adjusted with the spring on the pivot arm.  Early models didn't have than spring, and relied on the tabs for tension.

UGH,been working on the tractor and lucky me,everything is seized on the shaft. Now I get to try to get broke free, or more than likely take it all apart. 

 

Good thing it has hydraulic lift , or it might have to get parted out.

I see no oil anywhere, squirt some everywhere there is moving parts.

 

It ain't like a Mopar where it should be junked at the first sign of trouble.  :teasing-neener:
