ebinmaine 67,581 #1 Posted July 14, 2022 Now, for the record... The BBT made this video specifically for me. Bear. Eric. EB. It's ..... Possible..... A little... That I've been known to have some degree of difficulty remembering exactly how I like to hold our tractors to the trailer. We do this only twice most years and my memory is... Challenging. So my wonderful thoughtful little Other Half made me a video recording of the procedure. Figured some o you folks would be slightly amused. 8 1
tunahead72 2,424 #2 Posted July 14, 2022 Eric, I can definitely relate, and yes I was more than a bit amused... Every time my wife watches/helps me strap one of the Wheel Horses to the trailer, she has to know why I don't do it the same way every time, and why I don't just write it down some day. Seems to me that's missing the point, certainly takes some of the fun and creativity out of it. But what do I know? By the way, I never noticed but your BBT has such a nice sweet voice, it's easy to forget that she could kick ALL of our arses at the same time. 1

You get 3 bonus points for the diagonal and front-to-back tie downs. But - I am not so thrilled with the upper deck method with no weight below - the tractors (that's how we say it in RI) being up there raise the center of gravity a lot, making for squirrelly handling of a short wheelbase trailer - 1 demerit. Which leads me to item two - IF one of the tractors shifts off those rather narrow ramps in transit, it addresses the issue above with less than desired results - 1 demerit. The lack of fixed stops in front of the wheels is a concern - gotta watch out for deer & moose up there and stop short- 1 demerit. All in good fun folks, ya gotta have a thick skin to work this crowd!!! Good creative use of tie-down points - good video. Bill 3

The Freightliner Guy 1,327 #7 Posted July 14, 2022 We almost bought it but my dad saw the inside and I told him it was a 2 stroke and he went like I don’t want a gasoline power semi flatbed so that was the end of that

Good thing I got those three positive points ahead of time. 1: Hi center of gravity is of very little concern in this particular situation. It's important to note that the trailer we own is COMMERCIAL DUTY. This is a far far cry from the inexpensive imported garbage that you can buy nowadays. Being in the trucking industry and having great concern for the safety of myself and the rest of the world I consulted several different fabrication professionals before we put the trailer in this form. Current registered GVW is 3,400 lb and with additional springs it could carry quite a lot more. 2: I absolutely agree with the potential for side slide and to be perfectly frank with you it bothers me quite a bit as well. That's why we have that third strap pulling straight down on the front axles of each tractor. I would rather have them facing fore and aft but..... this is what we've got to work with..... for now. We've been using this trailer set up in this manner for several years now with great success. 3: I agree with the concern here as well but not because of the deer and moose. It's because of the two-legged animals driving around in the other cars. 59 minutes ago, peter lena said: @ebinmaine marvel at your ease of video application for instruction , is there any source of help that you use do do your videos ? having a nightmare on the most basic attempted , send anything , looking for direction , thanks pete Trina and I use nothing more complicated than our own smartphones to do our videos. I've attempted editing on mine a couple times. I think I did okay but it isn't something I'd be interested in doing a lot because it's very time consuming. We just think about what we want to do say and point out ahead of time and go for it. If I screw up something awful I just start right all over again. 🤪 2
