Heatingman 971 #1 Posted July 11, 2022 Just picked up a plow for my tractor. The linkage and pin the linkage engaged was seized. Was able to get that free’d up. Noticed there is a spring that wraps around the main pin that holds the rotation of the plow. Is that spring just there for a sleeve for the pin to maintain alignement, or is it supposed to aid the force applied to the pin and back into a locked a position? If its intended to aid in pin reinsertion force, it is not doing that. I separated the frame from the plow thinking the pin spring served a purpose beyond just being a sleeve. But even still, very little access to make out the in intended workings.
Heatingman 971 #2 Posted July 11, 2022 Think I figured it out. Appears their may have been a pin inserted perpendicular to the main pin that the spring would ride on. Appears to have sheared off.
peter lena 8,888 #4 Posted July 11, 2022 @Heatingman @Heatingman that spring assist is to assist the squeeze lever , if you clean out and lubrication detail that quadrant , that slide pin , to squeeze handle sounds like a rifle bolt , another part of that set up , is detailing the lever rods , typically sloppy end fit and rust , don't work well together , you can also use longer bolts on the lever mount swing area , backed up with an elastic lock nut , so it holds the sweet spot for motion with lubrication . those soft bendable wire connections , should be carefully squeezed into a snug fit an lubed at every movement connection . I just did one on a plow I picked up , trying to send in a video of mine in operation has been nothing but frustrating , but it swings with total ease , and sounds like a rifle bolt , like CRC red aerosol grease , in there and a plastic slide sleeve on then lever handle rod slide spot . if everything lubrication slides , the lever squeeze handle is just that , smooth and very easy , love technology , greasy pete
Heatingman 971 #6 Posted July 11, 2022 Thanks. Got everything cleaned and free’d and lubed up nicely. Replaced the missing pin with a hitch pin. Seems to function properly now.
