A ratchet will work too but using a 6 point socket is the best for some old hardware. The brake band should be located on the left side of the trans and connected with the pedal linkage 1

wallfish 16,994 #85 Posted July 14, 2022 The foot pedal is pushed. It will release the belt first (clutch) and then engage the brake band to the brake drum. 1

D_Mac 8,610 #92 Posted July 31, 2022 What I do when I come across an issue I haven't addressed yet is that I YouTube it. There are alot of helpful videos for just about every problem you are going to come across. I watch a couple videos then go at it. Trial-and-error is the best teacher. Watching a video also helps me to understand the instructions. I learn better by watching it done then someone trying to explain it. 3
The Freightliner Guy 1,327 #93 Posted August 29, 2022 Can y’all tell me what to look for with the engine like things to look for for the rip cord?
The Freightliner Guy 1,327 #94 Posted November 15, 2022 (edited) Ok it’s been a long while since the last update about Reese the rj so I’ve been thinking of a engine swap . I plan to put a Honda atc70 engine in it but that’d mean I’d have three gears in reverse with the four gears the engine has and I’d have to use reverse as a forwards gear. Is that ok using reverse as a forward gear let me know. Kollin Edited November 15, 2022 by The Freightliner Guy Wrong word
D_Mac 8,610 #95 Posted November 17, 2022 Maybe I missed it but what is exactly wrong with the engine that's on it ? Seems to me it would be so much easier to get that briggs running then to try and engineer that engine swap. See if that briggs has compression and spark. If so order a new carb or carb kit , clean the tank and ride it. 1
The Freightliner Guy 1,327 #96 Posted November 17, 2022 (edited) Um one thing is that you can rewind the cord by turning the engine pulley by hand Edited November 17, 2022 by The Freightliner Guy
D_Mac 8,610 #97 Posted November 17, 2022 sounds like the spring is broke, not a big deal to replace. 1
The Freightliner Guy 1,327 #98 Posted November 17, 2022 Fuel tank is as bad or almost as bad as your new snow thrower so I’ll have to figure out how to take it off so I can get the carb off to
