Welded alone... it was a strong as hell... but I decided to go with 1 BIG OZZ bolt with a lock washer and a couple of BIG, THICK OZZ washers... I shot it with a little black paint just until I get everything primered... Mr. Turkey approved... so... We'll see how that works out... hopefully there won't be any issues... I painted the 800 Special with 4 cans... so... as you can tell I have a 1 track mind... I do have some left over from the 800 Special build... 8ntruck 7,002 #58 Posted July 19, 2022 Hopefully, the nozzles on all of those rattlecans don't plug up before the can is empty. I just had the nozzle on a can of rusty metal primer plug up with about 1/2 the can still there the other day. One minute it was spraying along just fine, then it quit. Just a few small bubbles coming out of the nozzle. I cut the nozzle in half to get a look at the insiders. Looks like there is a very fine passage between the nozzle and the inlet from the valve. I'm guessing a bit of paint with higher viscosity came into the nozzle and clogged things up. In the future, I will be putting a shot of electronics cleaner through the paint nozzle when I'm done painting. 2 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Snoopy11 5,714 #60 Posted July 20, 2022 Well guys... I guess I must have been sleep walking last night... 'cause when I woke up this morning... the tractor was like this... Not really... I spent all day yesterday, last night, and into the morning hours taking it completely apart... sanding, grinding, painting, and putting everything back together. Only thing I didn't get to was painting the rims... and painting motor parts... @kpinnc... you were right... 4 cans of Regal Red wasn't enough... I had to get 2 extra cans. I did have enough primer though... but that's because the cans of primer I got were ginormous... I'm very happy with the way it turned out... especially the hood. I really had to work at that hood to get it right... welding... beating on it... bondo... JB weld... grinding... twisting... BBBBBAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Ya'll may think I am nuts... but there is a dent on the back fender next to the rear right reflector... I actually kept it... even though it would have been easy to fix. I made friends with that little dent over the day yesterday and last night it begged me to let it stay.... so I did... Though they aren't always 100% how I want them to be, they are close enough. Some are pretty, some are straight up ugly! I was telling Dave when we met for me to pick up this tractor... all of the Wheel Horses that I have started out as... what many people would consider junk... People think it is strange to "bond" with a tractor... but I have a bond with each of my machines for that very reason... they all got brought back to running, working glory and respect that they deserve. My wife joked to a friend once that if she went to bed and I wasn't there, she didn't worry because I'd just be sleeping with my horses in the shop. I painted the rear wheels that were on the 416-8... and swapped those rear wheels with the rears that were on the 800 Special... so now... the 800 Special appears to have a wide rear... and the 416-8 has AG tires on the rear... which I really like/need since the 416-8 will do a bit of work around here... I also painted the front wheels on the 416-8... I ALSO... added the blue to the hood on the 416-8. All I have to do now is paint the engine parts!!! (I haven't decided what engine I will use yet, but it will be bigger than the Kohler that is currently on the 416-8)... along with a nice speed boost with transmission pulley swap... I say that... but what is evasive to me is the flywheel... I'm not comfortable modifying a K341 without an upgraded flywheel... WHICH... I can't seem to find anywhere. It might be worth my while to pulley swap this tractor before looking into +++ rpm options... as I might very well be satisfied with a bit more speed...
