Tire and rim fit

Recommended Posts

Mattryan624

Hello all,

I just bought an 85 310-8. The tires on it are carlise 22×7.50x12 turf tires. Will 23x8.5x12 ag tires fit on the rims? I'm pretty new at all this. The tractor came with a tiller, hitch, and mule drive. I need to find a deck somewhere. This thing seems to built like a tank. I'm really excited I purchased it. I also need to swap the tires around in the rims anyway. I'm assuming the valve stems shouldn't be on the inside right?

Thanks, Matt.

Yes, 23x8.5 rubber will fit on your rims.
Valve stems are on the inside of the rim for the most part…so yours are correct.

Thank you! It seemed so strange they were on the inside, never saw that before. Learn new things everyday I guess. I ran the tiller already and was really impressed. I found a decent looking deck off a 414-8 that's 42", that should work right? Hopefully I'm not missing any brackets. Picking up the deck tommorow. I canceled a brand new john deere s240 mower and decided to buy this instead. Don't regret it a bit.

Your 37yr old :wh: will last a lot longer than that new Deere will. :)

Valve stems on tractor tires are turned inward to help keep them from snagging on brush and breaking them off.

Also, avoids any interference with commonly used wheel weights that are mounted on the outside.

Your 310 will spin up a 42” deck just fine. Make sure you get the “mule drive” when you pick the deck.

It’s the piece on my tractor mounted up front  below the hood. Gets the mower deck drive belt from the PTO on your engine to the center drive pulley in the deck.

Thanks Guys, hoping this deck has everything I need. I'll see if I can't get a picture of the tractor tonight. I was able to get a mule drive with the tractor. I need to look at this deck as it looks like it's missing a bracket but I'm not sure.

He says it's 42 looks smaller to me, anyway maybe you guys could tell of it's missing anything. It definitely needs some work, hopefully I can get parts to fix what needs to be fixed or replace what is missing.

Oh boy…that’s not the correct style deck for your tractor. Hope you didn’t buy it already!

Nope not yet. Thank you. I told him never mind. Now just to find one. Any chance you know what wheel horse that deck fits. The guy is saying someone told him it was off a 414-8 which Is why I thought it would fit mine. Thank you!

That deck looks to be from the 260 SERIES Toro/WheelHorse.     Looks to be missing quite a few parts..... Very rough...... The Flap is about the onl thing worthwhile on that.... IF it's original to the deck....

Try posting a wanted ad in the classifieds right here on Red Square and mention your location.

This is not the best picture but this is the type of 42" deck that will fit your tractor.  Check the deck at the height lever as this is where the 42" decks crack and rust out.  They can be fixed but may get you a cheaper price.

Lol thank you, guess I dodged a bullet. Have a feeling finding a deck for this that's not a pile of rust is going to be a challenge.

I don’t think it’s a challenge…the deck you need is referred to as the Attach-A-Matic style deck which were made from 1973 to the end of production of the classic garden tractor, which I think was 2007.
Plus you don’t live where Wheel Horses are scarce such as the west cost. I would think you could find one in NY. We have plenty of members in NY as well so maybe one of them has a deck.
Most of us who have been bitten by the “bug” have piles of mowing decks. I personally have at least 6 Attach-A-Matic style decks

Almost forgot here she is. I love this tractor already, tillers not pretty but is rebuilt with new parts and functions flawlessly. Hope to repaint the tractor too. It should have the all red hood and will probably go back to that when I do paint it. The steering needs work , but works fine. Still not sure how I'm tackling that after reading about how difficult it is to remove the steering wheel. My ag tires came today I'm going to get them mounted up and bead blast my wheel weights and repaint them. Still hunting for a mower deck. Thank you all for the help so far. I gotta be careful though I already want to buy another one.

I think it looks great!  Not sure I would consider repainting that myself, but then I'm just a bit further away from it than you are! :text-lol:
