Gonna replace it but at $90 it hurts to buy a new one

You can reline that.  I think Bob @rmaynard sells the lining material.

Yes Bob does but this band is too bent up to save.

Just tap it straight with a hammer. The band will straighten more when you glue the lining to it. You should be fine.

Another shameless plug for my brake linings.

Have you ever pondered making complete new ones ?

Yes, but at this point in my life, and at my age, I really don't want to get into a new project. One of our vendors restores used brake bands and puts my linings in them.

Those thin ones are much easier to straighten than those earlier thick bands.

Take it off, get it close then put it back on and use the drum as the dolly to tap hammer it. It should end up pretty good. Then epoxy the new lining on and clamp it to the drum for the epoxy to dry. :twocents-02cents:

The way I have installed brake band linings is to set the parking brake while the adhesive sets up, pretty much the same idea.

@fast88pu  nice clean up on that , noting your drive belt idler pulley , known for problems , with bearing lubrication failures and related linkage points , rusty / binding , do a thorough function check , for smooth  / easy engagement , pete
