have my central air now 37 years , no problems , regular cleaning / filter change , pan treat , coil spray down , been using , FLUID FILM  aerosol spray on the evaporator coil ends , that drip into the drainage system . since using this, the water / condensation shedding , has been terrific , also cleaned up the cruddy , corrosive look film that was there . must be the DISIMULAR METALS  that start the build up , FLUID FILM  , keeps the area looking lubrication clean . worked with an , ac tech during a summer slow down , as the helper , picked up a lot of good ideas . service my set up regularly , spray down coil , keep the drainage set up clean , sprays and tablets are available at big box stores . just talkin , pete
