peter lena 8,634 #3 Posted June 25, 2022 @Blasterdad, NICE , if nothing else , give it a lubrication spray down or linseed oil rub down , to immediately feed that starved paint and help its recovery , also stop rust , no sanding , just a thorough paint soak down , let sit a day , clean cloth rub down , do it again from that dry stage you can use a cleaner wax , if you want to . or leave it , till your mechanical is done . that works , pete

Blasterdad 2,692 #11 Posted July 1, 2022 Today's haul, another C-160 Automatic I was told this poor girl sat outside for 10 years, the sun baked the paint off her right down to the primer, hardly rusted at all though, weird... She will have a better life here with her sisters. 1

Reverse support group, that is rough! Said I was done for a while with the 520 H haul & look what I found having my morning coffee... I definitely don't need any encouragement! Lol. I had to tell her to expect six months of food shortages over the winter just to get her to stop tractor shopping. That may have been a miscalculation, because it may end up costing me more. Fortunately for me I usually just get the ol' eye roll from SWMBO, but 2 in less than a week... might turn into the ol' stink eye... ID plate says Model N 1-0421 6 According to the Model list #'s this is a 1971 Bronco 14 Automatic. Appears to have all original stickers & has the front tach-a-matic as the Bronco didn't. It does have the hood ornament & flip back seat pan like the Bronco though. Maybe 1st production run at the Pond factory using up surplus parts???

8ntruck 7,016 #19 Posted July 1, 2022 I'll agree with @wallfish there. Maybe the front tach-a-matic was dealer installed?
Blasterdad 2,692 #20 Posted July 1, 2022 Starting to think this is a Frankenstien Horse, from what I can find in the pic gallery the '74's still had the hood ornament & flip back fender pan, but had went to the 2 spoke steering wheel by then. ID plate was also moved to the left side of the console tower above the lift mechanism, & the center tower plate had an angled plate with the voltae regulator & ammeter in it. It appears that a PO had access to "parts", she has these 6" wheels that are too narrow for the spindles, but just happen to have an original year- correct pair of wheels I just picked up looking for a new home. Also freed up the motor, I think the PTO side bearing was a little bit stuck, some PB Blaster down the the side & in the cylinder & she came loose pretty easily. Pulled the head to investigate & she looks really good, no scratches or scoring & no ridge at the top, cleaned & oiled her up...
ineedanother 1,369 #21 Posted July 2, 2022 Nice find! My '76 c-160 might not be original but has no hood ornament, the tag is on the left above the hydro valve, 3-spoke steering wheel. That cylinder looks great, the 6" wheels, not so much
