FAST41 4 #1 Posted June 23, 2022 Hello, my son recently bough 2 Wheel Horse tractors. The C 160 is total hydraulic. Just wondered if many of these models were sold?
ebinmaine 67,589 #2 Posted June 23, 2022 Your son has a great find there. The C160 is considered a holy grail tractor for many folks. I don't know if there were ever production volume numbers published. There are certainly many of them as hydros.
johnnymag3 2,520 #3 Posted June 23, 2022 C-160 is one of the strongest tractors, reliable... powerful Single Kohler made in my opinion...I have one, will never part with it.. BEAST of a machine 2

BEAST of a machine Agreed. I have 4 C160s. 2 Kohlers, 2 Tecumseh engines. The Kohlers are one each of manual and automatic. Both excellent. 1
WH1618speed 535 #5 Posted June 23, 2022 I have a C160-A (like yours) and a C161-8 you cannot beat them. They are bullet proof tractors. As long as you keep up with maintenance they will run forever. The K341 is the best engine put in a Wheel Horse in my opinion. They aren’t too common like a 312 or a 520-H but they aren’t super rare. Amazing tractors though. 3
johnnymag3 2,520 #6 Posted June 23, 2022 (edited) I forgot to mention.... my C-160 has a Jim Kemp stack...and it thumps like nothing you have ever heard......Super sound.. Time to put on another coat of wax !!! .I firmly believe the 16HP Kohler is underrated @ 16 HP.. Edited June 23, 2022 by johnnymag3 2
D_Mac 8,620 #7 Posted June 23, 2022 I had the C-161, early one before they turned into " blackhoods" Many call them the "Cadillac" of Wheel Horses. I removed the shaker mounts and was glad I did.

Sailman 1,291 #9 Posted June 24, 2022 Looked long and hard for my C-160 Hydro with hydro lift. Put a sleeve hitch on that thing and it will do anything I ask of it! My favorite tractor. Its a beast like my 416-8! You will enjoy it!
Blasterdad 2,692 #10 Posted June 25, 2022 One of mine came with the super rare "Wheelie Seat"! The C-160 is not a rare tractor but they are getting harder to find because of us Hoarders! & yes they are a BEAST! Great find ! If your son tires of it let me know, Lol. Welcome to RedSquare! clueless 3,002 #11 Posted June 25, 2022 Don't know how many were sold, but I know there's still many out there doing what they were built to do 45+ years ago .
Kevin Bowley 130 #12 Posted June 27, 2022 (edited) I looked for several years to find a C-161 hydro with lift. They are getting very hard to find in decent condition. I looked at a few but they were total rats. Finally found one in great mechanical shape about a month ago. The paint is shot but all else is very good. I agree that the K-341 is under-rated in power. It could be the horsepower is correct and it just has gobs of torque, but it sure does seem to be unstoppable. The one I found is very close to a nut and bolt original with a very solid deck with a crappy paint job and incorrect wheels but it cuts beautifully and runs quietly.
