Bill D 1,926 #1 Posted June 22, 2022 Do I need the little pan in the bottom of the transmission tunnel? I have a 1984 GT1800 that has it and a 1988 520H parts tractor that doesn't. The GT1800 was packed with debris, the 520 not so much. Why is it there? How will transmission cooling be affected if it's removed? Leaning towards removal for ease of cleaning. Thanks. It will improve just because there will be less material in and around the transmission. The cooling fan will still push air over the fins. I like them out. 1
Pullstart 62,905 #3 Posted June 22, 2022 I have to be honest. I saw “Do I need this?” And instantly thought “Yes.”

Goldnboy 925 #5 Posted June 22, 2022 I Removed mine from a GT1848 basically due to rust and corrosion and debris it swelled and interfered with the being able to lock the parking brake
kpinnc 12,083 #6 Posted June 22, 2022 Agreed. I always remove them. They are little more than a squirrel/ chipmunk storage shelf.

I'd like to think that... since horses are scared of mice... it'd be a good idea to remove it... Don Edited June 22, 2022 by Snoopy11
