We spent the day moving all the ehhh...

"Stuff" out from undah the last side shed roof. 

We're now ready for concrete.

What you see in the picture is a combination aggregate of Bank Run gravel &  1.5" stone.

That will be leveled out and compacted again.

 

 

The wood is going to be wrapped with sill seal which is about 1/8 thick. That gives the slab enough room to move around.

Won't the concrete smash the sill seal to almost nothing?  My thought is that you should at least double layer it, especially living in the arctic tundra.

I'm sure it gives it some good squeeze but it doesn't need much room to move around.

Oh no no.  Not this one. 

We put them in the main floor already.

Starting a little yesterday and more today, We moved some tools and supplies to the new workshop space. 

Figured out what we wanted to do. Installed the 16 wall studs. 

Next is to wrap with typar and start on the siding. 

 

 

 

 

 

Trina ordered some high-mount tilt in shed windows. They'll be here in a few days. 

Should be ordering the back door and more materials soon. 

We need to figure a plan for the front door(s).

Factor in whether or not you ever want to have an awning or roof above the door keep the rain away. 

 

I’ve grown to really like the swing out doors on the garage I’m borrowing as a workshop. No obstruction for overhead lighting or other hanging stuff. Solid wood and no weather seal, though, so insulating value is nil. I’ll take/post a picture tomorrow.

Overhead doors are terrific for electric openers, though!

We got the Typar all cut and stapled on the long wall this evening.

Trina by herself and then with the help of her momma started setting the siding in place.

More siding set on the last 3 days along with the first of four windows being installed. 

These are a tip in & down "hopper" window. 18 x 32. 

We'll be able to set a small double window fan in place for added air movement.  

Biggest bonus is that they give good natural light but I don't have to look over at the neighbor's yard.

We talked about control joints. I think I brought them up here in this thread midway back as well.

This particular builder, along with all of the ones I deal with on a regular basis, have stopped using control joints. In this region for climate, they rarely work.

 

As you know I deliver Building Products up here for a living everyday.

I can't remember the last time I saw a line drawn in a garage or basement at all.
